I'm saying it could have been a lot worse. They could have literally repeated an episode 8 times. They ahd recaps, yes, but they didn't repeat the same goddamn episode 8 times

There's other ways it could have been worse, but, end of the day, its nitpicking. Even my biggest gripe - Akko needing 24 episodes just to be able to fly - could be a decision by the screenwriters and/or Trigger to tell Akko's story in this manner. Do I think its stupid? Why yes - but thats only because I was incredibly happy with how Akko was in OVA 1 7& 2, where she could fly. But the TV series was meant to be written independent of the OVAs

So, I'm happy, at least partially. Its not a perfect TV serie,s but it had great moments. The OVA still tops it, but I can still pair a few episodes from the TV series with the OVA.

Man, tons of action was animated by Hori in this

He animated the broom launch, then he later animated the part where Diana and Akko catch up to the missile, and Akko starts turning the little rockets into animals, and he snuck Rebecca Sugar and Ian Jones-Quartey into the show again, celebrating

Then there's a crazy bit where the missile lunges at them and Akko transforms a bunch that I'm pretty sure if Shota Sannomiya, he did the scene with Akko transforming in Diana's episode too, I'm fairly certain. He uses lots of multiples on characters heads and eyes which makes him easy to pick out

Then it's Kai Ikarashi when Akko gets knocked off the broom and Shooting Star catches her and Diana gets knocked off her broom and Akko catches her

Then they're being chased again which I think is Imaishi, but might still be Ikarashi?

Not sure about the following part, Tsurumaki's probably in there somewhere? I don't know if I'd be able to distinguish his animation

Then they shoot the missile and I think that's Yoshinari, finally, but it could be Hori once again

The final scene with them chilling on the grass and Akko finally flying is Handa

I don't understand why they didn't try to wrangle Hannah and Barbara into the finale, it just doesn't make sense to me. It's not like they would have had to do anything in the lead up to it, Amanda's team didn't do anything either, they just stood around.

And then Akko declares everyone present to be the "NINE New Witches", and then SEVEN of them go off to actually deal with the nuke, while two of them stay behind to watch.

And then in the closing scene Hannah and Barbara are being chummy with everyone else, almost as though they'd all been through some shit together - except they haven't because they weren't there.

Shit's just baffling to me.

Part of the fun of the OVA was actually seeing Akko rise up to meet Diana's standard. Its why even episode 13 was great. The series fianle messed up by literally going with Sasuga Diana and removing the rivalry between the two.

But assuming Trigger does not continue with the TV series, thats just how it is. Frankly, I'd rather have a reboot. Or a continuation of the OVAs
