Here is what I have with the Yugao = Sumire's mother theory.

Arguments against it.

-Her hair looks like a darker color, like brown, since Sumire also in the scene and her hair doesn't reflect the same shade when you look hard enough.
-She looks too young.
-Sumire said her father was a ninja, but didn't mention her mother being one, implying that her mother wasn't a ninja, even though Yugao was part of the Anbu.


Arguments for it.

-It could just be the lighting and the anime is doing it deliberately to conceal the exact color of her hair so people won't instantly figure it out.
-She could have aged well. She was a few years younger than Kakashi.
-Yugao probably moved on from Hayate and settled down with a another guy and became a housewife while the other guy still continued to be ninja and her Anbu career was never brought up to Sumire.

Honestly that's the most damning one since the others can be explained away with the other sudden appearance changes of characters in the new series. But why would she only mention her father, but the flashback shows who is presumably her mother? Unless she stopped being a ninja after having her daughter. And therefore Sumire wouldn't likely know of her past, since being in the ANBU isn't really something you want to disclose to your kid.
