I watched 3 episodes of it.

It was pretty meh. It did nothing to differentiate itself from the average shounen and it aged poorly as a result. The way it's structured is also laughably bad, since they only introduce certain characters and concepts when they become plot relevant rather than establishing them beforehand (i.e Seiya's sister).

The opening is GOAT, though.

The whole OST is GOAT. And as someone who grew up with it but went back to read the manga last year, it's incredibly overrated. Most fights are just people extending their hands or uppercutting with their constellations in the background as the enemy falls head first on the floor, and most fights with the same characters end up going the same way. Incredibly repetitive fights with one-dimensional characters and rescue arcs over and over as the plot gets boring quickly. GOAT OST and armor designs though.

Honestly Saint Seiya needs a fucking reboot with the original art style. This was the age where characters motivations, abilities and fight tactics were really fleshed out. My favorite example Seiya vs Aioria.

Like Seiya is literally getting fucked to shit and he has to make the most of ONE momenf whereas Aioria has near impossible seventh sense mastery.

Seiya decides to fire his ryu sei ken THROUGH the Lighting plasma gaps into 1 huge comet to fuck Aioria up in his face. Its just not the same with anime anymore. Ive never seen another anime where they were faced with nigh impossible odds, but still made it out through sheer guts, will, and smarts all at once.

Fucking shounen anime has become a dick measuring context of who has the biggest rasengan, bullshit.

I think that Seiya was rarely, if ever, emotionally pressured (but very often at his physical limit so that he can push himself "for Athena"), so I disagree with the guts part; agree with the will part (due to it being "for Athena", or at least feeling like it), don't agree much with smarts (don't remember any long-term strategy in it, only "the same move won't work twice").

Seiya vs Aioria was cool for me, in that the real appearance of the Lightning Plasma was a surprise, and seeing Seiya dodging through it (way before Touhou -- and more technically speaking, Battle Garegga/Dodonpachi -- helped spread the concept of bullet hell) was cool, new and as a result, a pleasant surprise.

Back when I heard Angra's cover for the OP for the first time, I thought that it would've been a better alternative, but now I think that it could probably make the anime lose some popularity among kids (fights with blood onscreen should've been already a culture shock for the parents back then), hence the more kid-friendly melody and voice.

I get what you mean with tons of episodes, most people who watched SS did it as it was being aired (for the countries that got the episodes), there weren't as many concurrent alternatives for entertainment as nowadays (cellphones, PCs games, consoles, social networks, anime DVDs/streams).
It's due to long-running anime such as SS, YYH and other successful ones (for the TV broadcasters) that I was led to think that anime are generally this long, which discouraged me from trying to keep up with more/newer anime, as more and more of them were released. I thought that I wouldn't have enough time to watch as many of them as I wanted, so either I'd finish watching one or two anime, or have tons of anime partially watched (which made me ask myself, "why spend time watching only a couple episodes of an anime and not know how it will end?", thus I decided that it wasn't an option for me).
