The only two I know is Dorehedoro and Akira.
Dorehedororo dtill hasn't revealed the main plot as far as I know.
And akira its more like a "one moment" story, perfect for a movie but not really that great

Kingdom is shit, anon. If a manga needs more than 12 volumes to tell its story that means it's shit or not worth someones time.

Good luck, I guess. Anyway, like >>158416690 , I was in the process of replying about Homunculus, but I didn't save mine and I'm not retyping the whole thing. Basically, I thought it should have been pared down to 2/3 the length, focused on MC, the doctor, and that one homeless guy (no yakuza, no sandy teenager, no ex-ugly ex-girlfriend), and tied MC's sanity more directly into the other stuff going on.

Definitely fucking not. 90% of Kingdom's appeal is people getting killed.

I agree with Ichi the killer , dorohedoro, Akira , nausicaa and soil having really great, developed, complex engrossing plots, for at least a large part of their total length.

I don't agree with homuncukus, freesia or blame though. Haven't read the others. Freesia had a slice-of-life abd episodic plot. Very little overarching structure, intrigue, development within the episodes.
Similar with homuncukus. Both felt aimless.
Blame had a decent plot but not stellar I would say

Other suggestions by me:
Berserk (up until millennium falcon war arc had impeccable plot)
Eden (first 8 volumes had SUBLIME plotting. And still very good by manga standards up to say volume 13)
Ryuguden - extremely well formed story. Intrigue, unexpected development, pathos, catharsis.
Kilico - also effective plot. Achieved remarkable turn around in main characters motivation that actually worked, difficult to pull off.

Naruto actually had very good plotting during the chuunin exam arc , so the first 16 volumes. Very impressive for a shounen manga.

Full metal alchemist has a very developed plot for a shounen manga.

My favourite manga focus more on character development and atmosphere rather than on the story.
Aku no Hana

Punpun
Cross Game
Solanin
A Girl on the Shore
Vinland Saga
Shigurui
Onani Master
Chihayafuru
Nana

All very different from each other but I absolutely loved them.

I'd argue that including those is more retarded htan not. They both have abysmal pacing and are beloved for their beginnings more than anything else. Vinland Saga for the last ~50 chapters has just been about a dude and his friends wandering around refusing to fight and miraculously avoiding harm, and is currently being dragged down further by Garm the chuuni faggot. Berserk has been similarly slow and aimless, although not to the same extent.
>>
>>158426225
But Berserk a shit

Teppu is a masterpiece of character writing and there are other aspects of it which are done very well. Natsuo is the most well-written character I know of from anime and manga. Too bad a large majority of consumers of stories can't dig into a story or just don't and judge things mostly on a superficial level, not realizing there's more depth to it. Even then they tend to get things wong, as digging into a story with depth provides a new perspective on things and as such is crucial when judging it. It doesn't help that Teppu is simple in it's presentation and as written before people tend to judge things based on mostly superficial reasons whether subconsciously or not.
>>
>>158431305
I feel like this is a huge exaggeration, but I haven't read Teppu since it ended so there's no way I can debate this properly. Just registering my opinion.

That's all well and good as a concept, but the way it's played out has been far from fucking exciting. It's been a lot of preaching and hesitating and smarmy stuff like Hild's dad metaphorically stopping her (and her 11th-century buzzsaws at age 12, holy shit), and I feel like there hasn't been anything major happen, and Yukimura hasn't made this commitment to non-violence actually cost Thorfinn anything more, and so recently we've basically just maintained the status quo while adding party members and going on side quests.

Shigurui is the best written manga ever.

Not all that surprising given its based on a book.

yeah i read most of OPs list and they cant compete. There is just so much to get out of Shigurui, it not only tells an epic story of ambition, rivalry and revenge but is also a very gritty critique of Japanese society as a whole, not just limited to the feudal society but drawing parallels to modern Japan as well digging pretty deep into the human psyche on the way.

A society of a few sadists and a whole lot of masochists.

This maybe describes the mechanics of authority and obedience we all experience every day the best.

We all got it in us.

The ending was very flawed.

Infact the plot decision to interrupt the war for the giant mold that suddenly ate a continent was an incorrect decision.

Its strengths are so good that it still remains a great manga but it's definitely not flawless or perfect. It could have been better.

PunPun and Onani Master are both phenomenal. I think I'm the same way, in that I atmosphere and character usually take precedence to story.

I'm gonna namedrop Glaucos since I haven't seen it mentioned very often here. Fantastically atmospheric, especially those last couple of chapters.
>>
Probably Pun Pun in my opinion. It's just a solid, evocative work that always makes me feel like crap reading it

>>158426225
Berserk had some of the best during the Golden Age and Conviction. But it hasn't been as oOod since. Griff's fucking around with his kingdom and Guts' was on that boat for nearly a decade while the RPG party make bad jokes. The Berserker armor looks cool and could have been a great thing for the story by having Guts literally lose all control and accidently kill one of his friends by Schierke just turns him into an empowered Batman.

>>158439088
I just read this the other week. It had its contrivances (that girl who was raped by her teacher who also happened to be her sisters boyfriend was one of the dumbest things I've ever read) but overall I thought it was great. The ending chapters were some serious shit.

>>158441100

This is the real answer. Starts out as like a Death Note parody, transitions pretty well into a drama about the dude getting cucked, then into the dude realizing the one guy who cucked him is actually his best friend and he was too stupid to realize he loved him, then it gets into the nerd girl's depression.

He was never cucked because he was never truly in a relationship. He just mistook that girls friendliness for romantic interest in him. It's something a lot of autistic losers think. Regardless, it's the greatest darkhorse victory love story ever told.

The only real fault in Bokurano is how you see the sister say she knew all about the rapes and there's no follow up at all. It seemed like something that just got forgotten about by the author.

Loved Boku no Mari, the turbo-dyke character was great. The mangaka started it when he was finishing Aku no Hana, and the art-style it's the same.
>>

And that guy gets away with it all. And there is no big reveal that Dung Beetle and his sister are actually humans from another earth. It's just "eh, don't trust her" and then Dung Beetle calls her sister and the rest of the crew (or what's left of them at least) just roll with it.
>>

The Teacher was just a shitty character all around. I don't really think the lack of a big reveal is much of an issue though, especially considering the shit the kids had been through by that point.

I thought the teacher as a basic character was passable just because having someone completely fucking shit getting away seemed to fit thematically - the shittiness/imperfection of the world they're saving is relevant, and that's a crucial point for Kirie's (fattie's) arc and internal struggle - but I agree the sister being involved was a stretch that didn't get addressed enough. I thought Dung Beetle and Machi's backstory reveal was fine, since the shocking twist moment had already been used for "you're fighting other earths" to begin with, and they knew someone wasn't registered, so it didn't really need to be a big moment.
>>
>>158441048
Glaucos does a great job of capturing the diving, but I found the autist and pals sort of lacking as characters, the whole sea-child hallucination shit wasn't interesting, and the evil-CEO and timeskip shit were stupid. That guy has real issues with story structure, Shamo was the same way.
>>

Ichi the Killer.

I think i'll never get the same rush as i got from reading it for the first time.
>>
>>158448544
I think the shittiness of the world is highlighted well enough without the teacher but I see how he contributes to it.
>>
>>158449741
Yeah, that was phrased sort of badly, since there's plenty of other horrible shit happening. The thing is, most of the other stuff we see is more generalized (there's depression, there's abuse, there's assassins, etc.), not a singular malicious individual with a developed persona like this, and I can't say it well, but I think the fact that he isn't dealt with in the end, that they save the world but can't/don't rid it of a faggot like this, is in some way substantial.
