Eh, I feel I'd just adopt an elf mentality. I'd have fun with mortal friends but remain kind of detached because in the blink of an eye they're gone.

The funny thing about "true" immortality is that everything and everyone dies eventually, expect you.

So even if they manage to bind you and throw you at the bottom of the earth, the sun will
expand and eventually explode. Destroying everything expect you.

The bad news is that now you are going to float and freeze for a loooooooong time.

Maybe you will find Kars out there eventually.
>>
No matter what somebody else does to you, you'll always have the advantage of time over them. Time is the great destroyer which everything must submit to, and yet you are immune to the passage of time. No matter how hard they try, no matter how much they do to fuck you up, they will die, and you will remain. Even if they themselves can live thousands or even millions of years, you will always be the victor. It is impossible for them to enslave you forever, and all the time that you have outside of that small window in which they bother you will be infinite. You'll forget about the pain they caused in what will feel like moments to you. Time destroys everything else, but for you, time becomes your weapon. As long as it is not also immortal, it will someday submit and you will be free. Humanity, earth, entire galaxies, they will be unable to control you. The universe itself will yield where you will not. Now, that sounds like a lot of power fantasy, but my point is, worrying about a few years of pain caused by some mortals isn't worth the headache to an immortal.
>>
>>158166992
Time is the gayest weapon anon.

You know I wonder where the energy for immortality would come from. A truly immortal being is in its own way infinite energy if it doesn't need to consume light, food, or water to survive. Do you pull it from the Anisotropic? Can you throw enough immortal humans together that they compact themselves into a star? what happens then?

fuck I need sleep.
>>
>>158167049
or you can just fuck every generation of their kids for all eternity or something, that can be a sort of revenge
>>
>>158167063
The best way is that you make time-space see you as an anomaly and the universe itself recognizes you as a permanent existence. If singularities can happen, so can that, probably.
>>
>>158167049

>>

>>
>>158167110
I mean, if you want to go eugenics about it just bring people you deem worthy, but the more people you bring aboard the more likely one of them will discover the secret for themselves and start dragging their friends along.

and then we end up with huge immortal wars where we start chucking people into black holes because that's about the only way to "kill" an immortal.

Being immortal doesn't mean there's nothing to stop you from achieving your goal.
Example: your true love doesn't love you back and you are going to suffer for eternity lmao at least i can kill myself if my oneitis doesnt love me, which i probably will very soon because she hasnt loved me in 7 years and i'm still not over her so i might as well just end it at this point

>limited memory
You vastly underestimate how incredibly oversized the human brain is.

The human brain can store roughly 2.5 petabytes (if you count each neural pair as a bit).
This is enough to hold over 300 years of HD video.

The ting is, the human brain IS NOT digital, it is analog, so every neural pair has about 4000 different states of storage based upon bother frequency of energy pulses, and the type of energy pulses between them AND their neighbors.

It is, more likely, that we have sufficient storage in our brain to store multiple thousands of years of memories (especially knowing that your brain "compresses" long term memory for archival).
>>
>>158168030
Which is less than eternity.
Also, your brain isn't meant to handle that duration, memories would get jumbled, mixed up and foggy, particularly when your brain stops seeing anything as revant info instead of the background noise the universe would become to you.
>>
>>158166282
No, immortality is pretty much like playing any video game with multiple lives. Because that's exactly what it is. You won't die permanently, but you'll have to try your goddamn hardest to finish your goal.
>>
>>158159761
Oh for fuck's sake I'm ending this discussion with a simple observation.

Immortality is not omnipotence. Sure you could devise that in the infinite stretches of time you might eventually reach the point in which things that are currently difficult are trivial that doesn't matter because in the infinite stretches of reality there exist infinitely more difficult goals that you can strive for.

Immortality is not a curse, it is the single greatest blessing anyone could ever hope for and anyone who disagrees is either being an edgy faggot who's afraid of eternity or is trying to seem smart by being controversial.
>>

>Because that's exactly what it is

You don't go back in time with immortality anon.
>>
>>158169021
>there exist infinitely more difficult goals that you can strive for.

Which would also become trivial. The point anon, is that there wouldn't be any tension, because if you are immortal, you cannot lose. Period.

That's assuming the ultimate fate of the universe is heat death. The immortal could be facing a Big Crunch or a Big Bounce, which would probably be the ideal situation since who knows what happens after everything collides into each other (the immortal included). Worst case scenario is heat death or a Big Rip.

It's still gotta be really fucking awful having the entirety of the universe collapse into you though (you collapsing into the entirety of the universe?).

Those two only enjoyed it because they were very lucky and good people at heart who were naturally happy go lucky.

So you're just a Christfag waiting around to die hoping you're going to get into a magical cloud land. It would suck if it didn't exist and you gave up the chance for immortality just to gamble on the chance it does.
>>
>>158170808
Heaven is a metaphor for reunification with our creator, it is not as you put it "magical cloud land".

> It would suck if it didn't exist and you gave up the chance for immortality
Even if it didn't exist, life in this fallen world has no value in and of itself. I would not want to live in it should the radiance of my lord God be absent from it.

The fact that you actually put so much value into this material world is saddening, especially so since you know for certain you will never actually achieve the "immortality" you so desperately wish for.
>>
>>158158824
Immortality fucking sucks. Aijin sums it up pretty nicely. You either
a) end up a lab rat
b) get put in a situation that you cannot escape
>eternal downing
>eternal starving
>eternally bleeding out
>eternally crushed
Sure maybe someone could save you in SOME of those situations but in others you're staying that way until the fabric of reality tears and offers you sweet release.
>>
>>158169193
Except no you couldn't you're assuming that it cools VERY slowly, enough for your bike to matter. When you get down to near heat death levels the rate of diffusion would be nuts. You couldn't keep or make heat fast enough to stop yourself from dying out right.
>>
>>158170955
>I don't want to be immortal on earth I want to be immortal somewhere else
Ok anon. And no I don't know anything for a fact. If immortality was ever an option I'm taking it specifically because I don't know what comes next and I have a decent time here on earth, I'd like to see us develop and I lead an entertaining enough life to not want to commit suicide. I'm not going to gamble and hope that some afterlife of whatever religion of your choice actually exists. Why roll the dice when you can just continue living?
>>
>>158171116
I'd ask for conceptual erasure of things I've touched then. I would rather die than be immortal but I suppose any form of after life is basically immortality anyway. Giving myself the ability to die when I am killed is actually a pretty big priority.
>>
>>158171116
Once again, heaven is metaphorical. It is not as depicted in popular culture, i.e. as somewhere you just go to live forever. Reunification with your lord is something completely different. It is not about being who you are, it is about reuniting with the holy spark and the infinite majesty of Elohim's incomparable indescribable radiance.

Even if it were just immortality we were talking about here, you cannot seriously compare an eternal life in this base and crude material universe with the truly infinite wonder of God.
>>
>>158171171
>Giving myself the ability to die when I am killed is actually a pretty big priority.
And so we come back to the question. If you want to die so badly why aren't you already dead? You either want to be immortal somewhere other than earth hoping it's better (heaven/Valhalla/whatever), or you're just too lazy to do it. No need to care if it's a "sin" if you just want to die and hope there's nothing there after.
>>
>>158171215
I love your usage of the word "is", pretending you know this for a fact. I know better than to try and talk reason to a true and true nutter though, you have fun anon
>>
>>158171237
No, for starters you're responding to my first post on the subject, I'm not that guy, secondly, you're seeing it wrong.
Wanting to end at some point isn't wanting to die. It's just not wanting to live forever. Anyone who actually considers the implications of such a life should not want it. Immortality is the worse punishment I could imagine. It would trivialise existence itself.

Actually, your delusions of faith are even sadder, because while I choose to believe in something greater, you're only belief is in this material world.

Both of you are shit. Existence is only good due to its limitations and immortality be it in metaphysical absorption or as eternal persistence is fucking awful.
The less choices, the less time, the less options the more things matter. This is an ineffable truth.
Having one choice with half an hour to decide between two good options matters more to a person in the long run than something than can choose to change at anytime they can consider for as long as they like and can mix and detail from as many options.

Most people fall prey to the optimism bias even in the very short term, once you start to consider periods of time so long they boggle the mind people literally can't comprehend it. I mean really these people think that they are seriously going to enjoy living for at least 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 years with a good chunk of that being nothing but floating in a void suffering? Do they realize how fucking boring that is going to be? That anything done for that many years would be torture? No of course they don't, because our minds can't even completely comprehend in detail what the next week of their life is going to be like, let alone an eternity.

Actual immortality would surely be absolutely shit for modern humans. Even ignoring the fact that there's always going to be more suffering than pleasure simply because of how both the human mind and entropy works, and that suffering is inherently bad to the human organism. They ignore all the fundamental current human limits that will be set in stone if they actually got immortality now. They ignore that the human race will evolve (or die) leaving them behind with nothing. In the next few hundred years it's likely humans will start genetic modification, the average /a/non will be as far from these new humans as a retard is to him now. They ignore how much of our human experience relies on a shared experience with other humans that they can relate to. They ignore that by just getting extra time doesn't mean they suddenly will be able to do anything they set their mind to. They ignore how easy it is to become jaded and how little there is that can be said to be both novel and good. Everything that we are is set up for living our current lifespans and not much more.

Maybe there will one day be some hedonist AI designed to only feel pleasure who might actually enjoy living forever, but humans sure as shit don't fit the bill.

I'm almost ready to drop my standards and watch this. I see it around too often. Is the anime fine on its own?

Season 1 is fine on it's own since it's exactly like the first game.
Sadly they didn't adapt the second game (which is (much) better than the first game).
The anime that aired last summer is the anime original 3rd season (after/before the second game), all around it's only good for the memes since they chose to ignore the second game almost completely.

Please, I already solved this problem. Have away for every cell to transmit it's information to every other cell, so during mitosis the cell should in theory have access to enough undamaged D.N.A. that it can, through a voting process, remove the damaged parts and replace them with undamaged, correct information. The other part of the solution is a cell structure that scans the D.N.A. after every mitosis and creates an entirely fresh version using a master set of information that is physically larger than normal D.N.A. so that the information is not lost when individual molecules decay. This master would be repaired using amino acid information instead of the D.N.A. information itself so that any damaged bits would, instead of being treated like a large part of the whole, and thus unfixable when knowledge of the whole is lost, be treated as an isolated set of amino acids. Instead of using the damaged D.N.A. in the individual cells, the entire body works towards making sure D.N.A. is kept intact with many levels of redundancy. Of course, this requires a lot of energy, so the body would have a much slower metabolism. This is, of course, merely an imperfect immortality, and is really just making an indefinite lifespan possible. Eventually something would break. The last level of redundancy would be completely replacing the D.N.A. with freshly created D.N.A. made using information stored on a computer and re-entered every so often to make sure no errors enter.

Of course much of this would rely on knowing exactly how D.N.A. conveys information. The only semi-realistic method would be manually replacing damaged D.N.A. with fresh copies that we can't understand but can create.

Thanks. I will take the under consideration.

What tier would selective deletion of your own memories be?

You could just watch the same anime over and over never getting sick of it.
