But that isn't the focus at all. LWA is just supposed to be a fun distraction with cute girls doing cute things. There's no ambition behind it like there was for KlK, but that isn't particularly a bad thing. Anime has been taking itself too seriously for a long time, and I think this show is speaking to people who want a break from that. Akko's characterization is kept simple and unchanging to take the pressure off the viewer. You may not agree with it, but it that is the path Trigger has chosen to take on this project.

Akko is shit and anyone seriously defending her has bad taste.

Peter's terribleness was at least somewhat forgivable due to the fact that he starred in an extremely fantastical (even moreso than LWA) comedy show. But Homer was made tolerable by being funnier, unluckier, and not always the focus of every episode.

Diana should have become more significant earlier, it's clear they're aiming to mirror the Chariot/Croix dynamic of the past with the Akko/Diana dynamic, but with so few episodes left since Akko won Diana's respect, they hardly have time to do anything useful with it. Akko's going to despair, and Diana will tell her to buck up and maybe take part in whatever the endgame is, and that's pretty much it.

If Diana and Akko were a pair much earlier, she would've been able to control Akko a bit. This is of course discounting how the show is already lacking Lotte and Sucy to keep Akko under control, let alone how Ursula repeatedly fails at it.

This anime has honestly changed my life.

I went into it not expecting much, considering that was hyped to shit. Holy fucking shit, was I blown away. I was hooked, like a baby to a tit with creamy foamy milk. I could feel her struggle and her desire to surpass her limitations, something that struck me hard. Everything suddenly stopped when I heard the words:

and I started trembling. That was me, I feel like I've been "losing my way" these past years. I haven't been able to hold a steady job, my grades were starting to slip, and my parents suspect that I'm gay. It was right then and there that I knew that I had to get my shit together. I can't think of any other anime that has had such a profound effect on me, let alone on the first episode. Tomorrow, I'm going to be a better man. Thank you, Kill la Kill, thank you Trigger.
