The voice in the japanese version is more high pitch. The more serious, deep voice from the spanish version fits much better both, because is more reflective of Hanamichi character, and because there's a stronger emotion. I mean, in some parts of the japanese intro, the singer seems like can't hold the note and it almost sound like a scratched record.

This song got really popular in Latin America, afaik.
