She is doing exactly what was expected of her though, destroying the world and killing whoever goes against her. She just now showed she is an angsty brat (which is consistent by being created by one and having the memories of one). I think it's a little more complicated than that. I do think he was envious of her, but I also think that he said something to her about her creation - that he pointed out all her flaws and why no one would sympathize or be fans of her character but went about it wrongly. Kind of like when someone tells you to review a book and you launch into a tirade by somehow making it personal.

I believe this is what actually happened: he was asked to give his opinion of her works and he actually gave some positive reinforcement by pointing out this flaw and that flaw - at first it was okay. Then she started coming to him more frequently, asking for advice - meantime, he can't even pick up his pen to start flipping through his own works and gets frustrated - this goes on and on for some time.

Then, at the apex of his annoyance, she comes to him again for a final draft or something. He starts off calmly enough then slowly builds up as he points up all the flaws, getting to a point where it just became personal and telling her that she should just kill herself because she hasn't improved, or something to that effect and falls back on the fact that her character is a Donut Steel, maybe saying something to the effect of her being a target for a lawsuit. She gets depressed because of all people, she didn't expect HIM to say it like that and thus, commits suicide.

I don't think he was so much driven by envy, but I do think that the further ahead he got along the more he became frustrated with himself. He couldn't have predicted that she was that far gone, but he probably let his personal failings eke into his critique for that one last time and ultimately regrets it. Maybe that's why he's just middling.

So a question i have (which Meteora will doubtlessly explain via a 15 minute monologue next episode) is what happens to a creation when it dies in our world. Does it simply return to its world and forgets that anything ever happened? Does the creation even go missing in their world when they come to ours in the first place? Does this mean that Mamika is now dead in her world and it is doomed to fall to darkness without her there?

She is harmless, so other characters won't go out of their way to kill her as long as there are bigger threats. So she might end up last man standing.

Avoidance issues over feeling responsible for setsuna's death. Every time he gets cornered he doubles down on his web of lies and denials. People do that, but the way it is portrayed in the show puts way too much emphasis on hammering the message into the viewer while letting other characters be oblivious about the whole thing, which makes it very annoying as the message is delivered in a repeated, overacted manner.
And the whole "asking for a friend" thing is so cliché and he can't even manage to keep up that paper-thin charade.

The whole thing lacks subtlety and is too drawn out. Instead they have used only a few seconds of each episode to show that he's avoiding the issue.
