I love Nihei's art, even his new stuff, but he cannot write a shit.

Each 'new' manga is just the same story as Blame! with various minor details changed. Its better than 'battle harem LM adaptaion #10345' but I know he has more to him. Just look at how his paneling and such have improved - you no longer need to stair at a squiggly line for two minutes hoping a character is who you think it is.

If such a person can exist then it is incredibly likely that many other people, capable of the same feat, also exist.

Think on this: which post is more likely to be made: "I understood this" or "I didn't understand this, can someone explain it to me"? It has been known since the beginning: the majority of 4chan users are lurkers. Compound this nature with the result of the former question, and it becomes unlikely that you would find many posts of readers saying that they understood everything, even if there was a greater percentage of them than there was of people who did not understand everything.

I am an old-Nihei purist, but I think Biomega start was worse. It introduced subplots that were entirely dropped after the second part.
At least you could say the first volume of Blame!, while confusing, helps the reader to familiarize with the atmosphere and the pacing of the story. In Biomega it's useless because the beginning is enterely different to the last chapters.

Both. The visual stuff is extremely egregious in the sixth volume, which has yet to be released in English (along with the 4th and 5th, but I think the 4th is out really soon). But nobody wants to hear more screaming about the boxes. Not today.

To be fair, the plot is much more suited to a series.

A series of twenty minute episodes would be a really awkward format for BLAME!, imo. Too much dead time. It'd be a better as a bunch of movies. Biomege and Abara aren't right for a TV show, either. They're both too short.

Remember that a lot of Abara and Biomega's page time is taken up by Nihei's incredibly detailed rendering of action that's actually occurring very fast. Not much actually happens in either series. Or rather, everything happens over a relatively short amount of time (until the huge timeskips at the end of both stories).

The story stopped being about Tanikaze and the other main characters, and more about having thousands of spaceships shooting at thousands of gauna.
Things got scaled up so far that it killed the sense of tension the earlier chapters had.

I honestly didn't really understand why the Mass Union Ship terraformed the planet at the end. Unless, that absorbing the many pilots over the many months, the gauna managed to understand a little bit about humanity--and their struggles, and as such decided "alright, we were wrong; here's a planet for you."

It's something like that. Nihei has always pushed the theme that communication with alien species (silicon life or the gauna or what have you) is impossible because of differences in culture.

You can argue throughout the series that the gauna have never been maliciously hostile, just trying to understand and communicate with sidonia. So at the very end they just terraformed the planet because what else can you do at that point except demonstrate by action.

Aposimz would look pretty cool if everything was white and grey except the normal frame form. It makes me think he likes the idea too and actually thinks a lot about color even in a b&w manga.
