God an idle question I've been pondering while watching anime of late. What is the Japanese predilection for foreign characters having more than two names, using all names when announcing themselves?
I've never seen the logic.
Picture only related because... there's three of them and I had nothing relevant to post.

Me in the middle

I've got no clue. It's from some facebook group or another I've got liked, but I saved it like two years ago.
Piece of advice, never post a picture more interesting than the topic you want to discuss.

I was looking for a picture of Evangeline or some other "western" character in manga or anime but didn't come across anything in my folders. This had three people; it's a stretch, but as connected to the subject as anything on Sesame Street.

Because most foreigners have middle names (japanese don't), and since it's required to write your full name on employee files it stands out that all foreigners have three names.
Honestly, why did you even ask the question? The answer is pretty obvious and it makes me think you're more than a little stupid.

I didn't know about employee files with Japan... but most of these characters are high schoolers, and even if they have three names, do you go around introducing yourself with your middle name? I certainly don't. I don't know anyone who does.
Which is why I'm asking the question. Why in Japanese works do people always use all three names? Or initials, in the case of characters like Evangeline. No one does outside of Japan. if they're replicating foreign characters, they should only be using first and surnames.

Why does almost every asian character in western media have some sort of spiritual shit or martial arts going on? Entertainment media thrives on stereotypes. Having 3 names is a quick way to make someone seem exotic in Area 11. Kallen is best girl.

That's a better answer. I always figured it was just a name thing, Japanese figuring middle names were as important as everything else, but a five minute check online or with any foreigner would have put paid to that. So yeah, I was lost.
Because middle names are a novelty to Japan.
