My mind is hazy because I read Fate/zero in 2010 but I have to struggle to remember anything of consequence being left from anime. Everyone threw a shitfit in ep 24 when UNRIVALED's last words were skipped but they were just moved further down.

If anything they padded things like Rin's episode.

The only thing that I can remember being skipped is Ryuunosuke being impressed by Gille's human skin covered book, saying he tried to make a lamp once and failed. When Giles is stalking Seiba Uryuu makes a pipe organ out of a girl's intenstines but Giles gets mad at Saber and crushes her.

Yes I never read the light novel or whatever Fate/Zero was inspired I do know some stuff was omited /changed like how the anime only showed Kiritsugu kissing Maya while apparently in the source material he was doing that to prepare himself for Iris death, or how Sakura reacted to Kariya's death.

However doesn't changed how Kiritsugu still acted like a machine even after learning about the grail intentions to the point where saber noticed no diference in his behaviour to the point she tells shirou he always treated everyone including himself as a tool and only that he betrayed her.

Most interesting thing about him is how Maya and Iri both believe in him enough to deal with each other.

That's why I said about the hasty episodes with his backstory those were throw out because Kiritsugu had the personality of a cardbox and was easily the least interesting character in the anime where he was supposed to be the protagonist.

Take a moment to realize you are after specific moments in the anime to show how he wasn't a freaking robot because 99% of the times he is.
Had those backstory episodes been set early on I might agree but those where shoved in there because they failed to show he had a personality, they believe him saying emotionless to Iris for them to run how he would be the cause of her death would set his personality and they could go full T-800 for the rest of the series but it didn't worked that well.

Kiritsugu is the only character in the franchise who was enough of a naive dipshit to believe the Grail could just make everyone get along in peace because sparkly magic and unicorn piss.

Shirou acknowledges the incoherence of such an idea offhandedly in the prologue, as does Rin. Zouken understood humanity would need to evolve into something else first to reach such a stage, and Amakusa understood we'd need to all be mass brainwashed at minimum.

Kiritsugu was the only one naive enough to not get the inherent way in which his dream was impossible, even with a magical wish granting genie.
