I don't like edge, lolis or ducks. Is there any reason for me to watch Tanya?
Well there's a lot of military porn in it, if that's your cup of tea.
If it's not, I don't know why you'd ask the question at all, because apparently you just hate fun.
Come for the violence, stay for the character development. Also fan art.
It's actually very funny and not that edgy.
You see Tanya is trying to be such a good soldier that she'll quickly be promoted away from the front and live her life happily and safely in peace, but not such a good soldier that she turns out to be irreplacable at the front. This balance act leads to funny situations.
>This anime has all of these prominent elements I dislike
>Should I watch it?
You can watch for the Frogchan.
Read the manga, Tanya is supremely moe instead of a duck.
I miss last season so much. There were so many good shows.
Lehrgen is going to win the Tanyabowl!
Because traps are gay and Op is a fucking faggot
>tfw you have a fuckton of free time and can watch any anime that you're curious about without needing to ask stupid questions
I just love how everyone is like 'lol nazi loli', and I'm all like 'nazi's didn't exist yet you fucking retards, and because they essentially won, they probably never will.'
Tanya killed all the nazi's. Praise her.
The LN and manga cover a side-story that takes place well after the war (equivalent of 1960s/70s or something) where journalists are trying to find out about her.
If the webnovel spoilers are to be believed, she
goes missing after the Empire loses the war and everything about her is erased from record. In the ending, it turns out she started her own PMC in Not-America, IIRC.
>I don't like edge, lolis or ducks. Is there any reason for me to watch Tanya?
Well if you like genderbender, reimaginings of WWI/WWII, isekai or pyschotic magical girls, those are all good reasons to try it.
>Tanya is actually a narcissistic businissman
>God is a narcissist too
Turns into a giant pissing competition and Tanya's attempts to spite a comparitively all-powerful being that fucks her with irony at every chance and she gets back at him by continually thriving in shitty situations she is actively placed in by god. Imagine having a really cunty boss that puts you in the shittiest jobs, but you're really good at it and everyone thonks you're amazing so it bites both if you in the ass
That... is more correct than it ought to be.
How old is rerugen you think? Quick google search says that the minimum age to normally become a Lt. Colonel is 38, but he doesn't seem that old. Would Tanya be older than him (salaryman years + loli years) mentally?
Well he was recently promoted from Major (he's actually a Major when he first meets Tanya, IIRC), so there's that. Plus factoring in Isekai logic, the high mortality rate of soldiers in WW1/WW2, life expectancy during that era in genera, etc. and you can probably assume he's going to be younger than 38. Probably younger than Tanya's combined years (11 + 30-odd, at a guess).
Why is the LN scheduled for November? I want my Tanya goodness now, but at least its actually got a release date unlike the manga
I like alternate history shows most the time, but they don't make use of the WWI setting in Tanya. I mean why use super sayian dog fights instead of treches? Also why is it like bootleg Europe instead of the real deal?
mages are airpower dumb dumb
Honestly, there are a few Blackadder-esque moments, but Tanya isn't as cowardly as Blackadder and she's more than slightly more psychotic.
It's still good fun though, coming from someone who was raised on Blackadder.
Historical British comedy series from the 80s. One series takes place during WWI and the main character keeps trying various schemes to sent away from the front lines (which invariably backfire), which is where the point of comparison comes in.
>it'll never happen to you
>Thank you, anon. I'm a burger so I didn't know who he was.
The actor is more famous outside Britain as Mr Bean.
I can sort of see why. The first season of Black Adder wasn't very good. And as such people who started with it gets turned off. It was only 2nd season onwards that the script got the balance right.
(The main issue, according to a documentary, was that Black Adder was portrayed as an idiot in the first season. But by making him clever instead the jokes worked better.)
>anime about a salaryman that gets reincarnated as a little magic loli that is a turbo edge autist that hates god
So is this one of the "so bad and retarded it's funny" animes?
>I was hoping for more of >>157415602. Is this just a joke?
This isn't so much shipping as much as thinking about what would be the most hilarious couple. So technically it is a joke, but it is just a really popular one.
Wait until next season, I can't imagine anyone likes Mary Sue.
Honestly, the first season is underrated. It's cringier than the later seasons though.
I liked the orginal portrayal of Baldrick actually being smart and having to clean up Blackadder's mistakes rather than the other way around like in the rest of the series, but then I liked Tony Robinson a lot since I enjoyed his narration of the Discworld novels.
Realistically, there aren't any pairings that would make sense and there's no romance in the novels, IIRC. Closest thing might be vague hints between Tanya and Visha but there's only a slight pointer to it in the novels whilst the manga seems to push it a little more with Tanya's weird daydream.
How does he leave her alone without shitting things up? Because she can suffer even if no world war is happening or is it because worldwars shifted to permanent slowburning war?
Tom Selleck confirmed for best general.
You can't unsee it.
I thought it was well done. https://streamable.com/3e7v3
Lolijijii (loliJJI?) is the newest fad, man. Get with the times.
If Elfen Lied first aired today you could be sure normalfags would complain about it being gratuitous torture porn. They probably did at the time, come to think of it.
Also, I thought the normalfags were the ones whineing about YS.
Cagliostro from Granblue Fantasy.
Probably the same why she treated Anson. It's not like she enjoys murder, though it might differ depending on how much of a pain in the ass she's been.
It only "looks" edgy.
The reality is that it's really, really sad, under its surface. It's the problem of human suffering.
>Salary man thinks he can do whatever he wants as long as he doesn't go against an authority larger than himself.
>It bites him in the ass.
>God comes down and rubs salt in the wound, makes things even worse in an attempt to force salary man to acknowledge him.
>This is probably the first time Salary man's ever been hurt or slighted. Rages against all of mankind as irrational buffoons and God as an unjust tyrant.
>Whoever this god is, he becomes Salary man's Salary man. He allowed something awful (and ultimately unjust, no matter how you want to look at it) to happen to Salary man, then made it worse and tried to turn an entire world into Salary man's personal purgatory in an attempt to make him submit, yet he can't understand why Salary man has an irrational disdain for him (even though it's that same disdain in other humans that allows him to manipulate them).
>Salary man slowly evolves from a high-minded, aloof, and arrogant satellite of a person into a competent leader that accepts his primal and irrational nature. He becomes a monster and aims that monstrous nature at something he believes to be ultimately evil.
Would femdom doujins with Tanya count as yaoi? Honestly the porn must make her non bisexual fans of her feel confused.
LoliJJI is still loli at the end of the day. Having the mind of a guy is just a genderbender twist.
>Honestly the porn must make her non bisexual fans of her feel confused.
There's nothing to be confused about, to be honest. If you're past normalfaggotry to the point of fapping to loli, what they're like on the inside is going to be the least of your concern.
Most people with taste fapped to Ranma and the like years ago anyway.
Why would you post the inferior version
Why would only femdom doujins be yaoi? Whether it's dom Tanya or sub Tanya, paired up with Rerugen, her battalion, fat faceless old men, (you); it's all yaoi.
Visha is the only straight choice, you see, so she is the correct answer.
Just do we don't have to make a new thread. What would you guys give the major for notChristmas?
Some good modern coffee and mug probably. I dunno what a middle aged salaryman loli would want.
she's shitposting god because he dicked her over when she was still a man.
wouldn't you shitpost god if he's all like "fucker, you're too mean. worship me faggot or I won't reborn you." and then proceeds to go "LALALALALA" when you ask him about shit.
the anime does a shit job of depicting it, but mages are used as assault troops as well as close air support and anti mage combat.
also you have to remember that this is essentially ww1 so something akin to a modern military doctrine is only just evolving.
Just finished the anime. I liked it a lot. Tanya isn't that evil, just a big pragmatic and passionate about her hate against being X.
So, should I read the novels? Can I just continue from some volume? I've only found translations up to volume 2.
Of course, but the novel is only translated up to volume 2 chapter 2, and the project has been dropped since Yen Press licensed it. The first officially translated volume will come this November. In the meantime, you can read the manga. They have lots of details not mentioned in the anime.
>Can I just continue from some volume?
Volume 3 chapter 5, but unlike the manga, anime diverged quite a bit from the LN so a reread from the start is recommended.
>I've only found translations up to volume 2
Sasuga Sonzai Y(en)
Tanya isn't really that edgy.
During her past life she was just a pragmatist who did his work, in order to get by and climb the social ladder.
He had a clear idea on the importance of social order and reason.
Now, in the alternate WWI timelines, she's just a competent soldier who does what is required of her and takes no rubbish from her subordinates.
Basically, Tanya simply likes doing things efficiently. She displays very little to no sympathy for others, but she won't go out of her way to do evil.
If you've watched LotGH, her mentality is somewhat similar to Oberstein's.
A nice thick dildo, since she's nearing the age where she'll get curious.
>Yen Press licensed it
Fuck. If Overlord translations are anything to go by, they'll murder the translation.
Guess I will read the manga.
Why did she care about taking the hit for that guy?
>she won't go out of her way to do evil
>having a village bombarded into rubble on application of a technicality that's tenuous at best
>once upon a time she fired someone and let him go
>that same person came back and pushed him onto train tracks
>fast forward to village people losing the war and having to evacuate, many of whom want revenge
>thinking she'll repeat the same mistake with irrational humans
>thinking this is evil
>giving them every reason to turn guerrilla on you
>implying they're not thinking of fighting back and getting revenge when it specifically zooms onto one of their faces to make a point
You're probably the naive type who'd more often than not get stabbed in the back. Maybe when you die once you'll learn not to take chances just like Tanya did.
>more sweeping generalizations
>still assuming assumptions
I can still exercise all due caution without massacring people I can't even be sure will actually do any direct harm to me. Citing that incident is essentially comparing apples and oranges and STILL doesn't warrant massacring a village.
Not really, if you considering the Empire's expansionism.
You had one village in which most of its people put up clear resistance.
By putting them down Tanya not only avoided more Mary Sues around, but also set an example for other villages, and avoid further revolts in conquered lands.
Not wearing uniforms (nor any distinctive pieces of clothing) AND executing surrendered PoW put you straight into the illegal combatant land and all legal protections are forfeit.
>proof by assertion
Real compelling rebuttal there.
>I don't like lolis
nope, the strategy aspect is essentially
>if we destroy/take the enemy's strong point here, we will have the advantage
>let's send our invincible plot armor team of 20 or so to simply fly in and shoot everyone with the only tactic being to yell "scatter" when they're getting shot at
>it works every time
>still assuming assumptions
Because terror bombing worked so well for the Germans and the Brits, right? Besides, if the Empire's already so internationally reviled then the last thing they need is to further outrage the rest of the world.
Then feel free to apprehend and execute those who actually did such rather than judge those who didn't as guilty by association.
Partisans are enemy combatants.
Civilians are a legitimate military target and if you think otherwise you are in favour of slaughtering civilians. In any war, it is not stopped short of total destruction. If wars always start with the complete and utter annihilation of both combatants, war is impossible to start.
But that's the whole point though. History is going to repeat with the empire's loss to show that rational efficient methods won't always lead to rational results. It drives the point across in the last episode with the whole thing about irrational humans
You say that like any of them were bad.
Also anime has corrupted my brain, so I have a propensity to think of these characters as anime girls now, which means S3 Blackadder gets boosted by virtue of being a meido.
And don't get me started on the Young Ones. Rick-chan is the best for bullying.
I really liked this talk between the two.
It felt so genuine, it's like Tanya felt truly defeated.
She was right to feel defeated. Not only was she thwarted from preventing the Republic from regrouping and forcibly continuing the war even further, but the Empire gained a whole bunch of new enemies. Anyone would be asking themselves what the point of it all is.
