I imagine the manga would be better than the LN with actually seeing all the sex with the feisty brown queen.

And don't get me started on the retardation of the MC.

This is by far the least wish-fullfilment isekai out there, the MC is not some godly warrior/wizard/intellectual that goes to another world to do whatever he wants, he is taken there with one duty, to fuck the queen and get children out and later on gets rolled on the annoying royal life.
If anything I'd say this is the most interesting Isekai if only because the MC isn't a god in disguise.

It's not wish-fullfliment to expect him to use some real-world knowlegde to bring technological advancement. It's common sense, something that seems to lack in most isekai.
>>
>>157112766
Well to be fair in their writing system, they write number with writing number not the numeral so it's fair enough to him for introducing numeral. It's dumb though for not having numeral but I don't know whether this thing was legit IRL apart from 0 thing.

I'll be honest with you anon, I couldn't read past where the utter goddamn moron decided the stuff he needed to take with him was a computer with no internet and a generator he likely couldn't maintain or fix and would break down within a year.

Other than that, from what I've seen nothing much really happens, the story just keeps throwing women at him to dick and that's more or less that.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though.
>>
>>157113060
Or, he could do these things from the beggining. It's as simple as: 'Hey, before you ride my dick all night, there's this thing called gunpower. This is how you make it. Good, go conquer the world'.
Also steam power and other stuff.
>>
>>157113102
He's just like 8man's dream, house-husband.
Though when his wife is pregnant, he takes over her job but still keeps away from getting concubines. He keeps saying that he's just representative of his wife, the queen, whenever the nobles try to make him the king (so he can be pushed for getting concubines).

Then I simply need to research and find books detailing technological advancements from the Bronze Age and up.
I'll have to discover the fundamental principles of magic and experiment on my own, though some physics related books would no doubt give me a greater range of knowledge and methods for applications for magic than the natives could even possibly be aware of.

I absolutely love the concept of isekai.
But absolutely hate the fact that its wish-fulfillment bait.
And hate the MCs for being so damn dumb, and shortsighted.
I want the MC to have the intelligence, foresight, and morality to agonize over the fact that he can literally take a tribe and give them iron age weaponry and gunpowder weapons and completely dominate the rest of the land/continent/world, abuse biological warfare, introduce a language and economic system, develop medicine and other treatment methods than can greatly boost the life expectancy of the tribals, literally being the father of civilization of that world.

Greeks/Romans are a good example that math/numbers aren't intuitive in the way we think of them today.

Or really, if you read math history through the birth of the different independent civilizations, one can realize that although some stuff is common, like our base 10 system, other ideas aren't, like how fractions work and are represented, multiplication systems, etc.

If there's more than just that panel I'd like to read it, I'm a sucker for that part of Isekaishit, the technological/knowledge gaps and adaptation or sharing of that.
>>
>>157113329
>But absolutely hate the fact that its wish-fulfillment bait.
>And hate the MCs for being so damn dumb, and shortsighted.

An anon told me that the whole reason that Isekai suck so much was because most of the stories were adapted from webnovels that anybody could write including those edgy teenagers and middle-aged NEETs who haven't finished their edgy phase.

The worse thing is that LN publishers just choose whatever webnovels that are currently popular, adapt them into LN with heavy edits to make the writing looks much better than the original WN.

But it's pointless in the end if the writers themselves could barely write a decent story without self-insertion and wish-fullfilment bait.
>>
>>157113909
Not much deeper, it's simply that he was taking the test for the merchant's guild and most of the problems were basic arithmetic, which shows the gap in education between the worlds.

This isekai is alright, the MC is boring but the supporting cast is good.

The way they write women or conversations sometimes make you realize some of the stuff is clearly written by people who barely experience human interaction and get most of their knowledge from manga and webnovels.

Yeah, the equivalent is western publishers adapting or re-editing, or simply publishing, fanfiction from livejournals or fanfiction.net itself. Sort of like that vampire book and fifty shades of grey.

A good writer could make it work, but you'd need to pay a good ghost writer to create a good Isekai... again, but, it's just cheaper in the end to pay the rights to publish some crap that other teens adore... after all LNs are just YA for the japs, most readers aren't interested in good writing.

The real answer to what he should have brought with him is books. Specifically technical encyclopedias with detailed schematics, primers on math, chemistry, physics, biology. Books books books. The data and knowledge is way more important than things.

Our modern medicine is only what it is because at some point a dude decided to say fuck it to religious taboos and did full dissections, fully mapping out the body and it's systems. Suddenly, we could heal shit that used to be a death sentence. Not because mechanical skill got better. Just because we had the data.

Gunpowder is not hard to make and can be used for more than just making muskets and cannons.
Elementary school physics and chemistry is probably enough to change alot of things about their 'science' and alchemy.

Anon it's not that hard to make something equivalent to a firelance or an early arquebus even with dark ages tech.
But let's not forget gunpowder was an accidental invention. For all we know, an isekai world can go as far as 16-17th century tech without coming across anything like it, knights and crossbows still dominating battlefields.

All essentially utilize the same principle. The only difficult part here is the gunpowder itself.

Once you have useable powder, building a basic firearm is not hard. Building a modern weapon would be very difficult due to the more intricate components involved, not to mention the production of cartridges which is something we take for granted today. A basic muzzle-loading cannon or musket is not unthinkable, however.

Now that I think about it, just how retarded are humans that it took them so damn long just to make a boomstick? You'd think cavemen could've invented a crude form of gun.
>>
>>157118256

I think you guys are all missing a really important point: Why would anyone give a fuck?

I mean, if I was tossed into Grimgar, I would want guns really damn badly. But if you were made to be the boytoy of a Queen, you wouldn't actually need to do anything. Don't get me wrong: I find the entire idea really, really boring. For an interesting story, give me people who are lost, afraid and desperately out of their depth.

But really, if your new job is just to fuck the Queen, why are you bothering with trying to bring about the technological renaissance? Shit sounds like too much work. How do you even know the physics work the same way? Exalted, for instance, has 'firedust' which doesn't function like gunpowder. (Their guns work like flamethrowers.)
>>
>>157118256
god that action is pure sex
>>
>>157118256
It's the opposite anon.
Gunpowder is not hard to make, just takes a bit of experimentation.
The problem with early firearms is that they had a tendency to explode on their users hands. Metallurgy needed to be at a proper level and the right amount of gunpowder used for the right thickness of the barrell. Also, different kinds of grinding and stuff.
Modern weaponry is completely out of the question, as the smokeless gunpowder used in cased rounds requires 19th century tech.

I'm not saying the guy should become Roland and go full engineering-autism on them.
Just let them know some basic concepts. Not just gunpowder and steam, but also stuff like philosophy, political concepts, the such. Tell them about our history.
If he wants to help his queen, I'm sure her generals can benefit by knowing about the Marius reforms, her alchemists about basic laws of chemistry and her smiths about a potential new weapon.
>>
>>157118536
You'd think that the discovery of fire would have led to a goldrush to find bigger and better fires that could burn more and more stuff very quickly. Should've happened within a few hundred years of people figuring out how to make flaming sticks.

You've basically just restated what I said.

Making useable powder is difficult. It requires obtaining proper materials and mixing in proper proportions, corning, storing and measuring proper amounts for use.

Once you've figured this out, casting a huge hollow bronze tube is reasonably straightforward.

Except the world is radically different. For instance, in our world, everyone's basically the same. 'Bloodline' doesn't make you physically different except for inbreeding.

But here, bloodline really matters, because fucking magic. Imagine if - for instance - the Queen singlehandedly raised a magical barrier around Britain that kept the rapefugees out, and Prince Harry had all the powers of Superman. He actually does bring technological knowledge from his world. The problem is he didn't take into account that our current knowledge on how to make things is based off of things that have already been invented. The first thing he wanted to do was make glass but quickly found out he couldn't because the furnaces in the kingdom couldn't achieve temperatures high enough to make it clear and he had no clue how to make firebricks.

We've had to live and develop completely independent of magic
If magic is added to the mix their is very little reason they would need to rely on non magic for warfare reasons
we invented bows and arrows to kill game from far away, if we had magic we would use magic instead, the same applies to warfare
you need to be prepared to invent to technology completely from scratch

>But if you were made to be the boytoy of a Queen, you wouldn't actually need to do anything.
if you had no other usefulness, other than being a breeding stud, I see little reason as to why they would even allow you the freedom to move around, much less take orders from you.
The kingdom could easily just confine and drug you keeping you as little more than a living seed machine.
Obviously you wouldn't want that
well, I don't actually know (You), so that could actually be what you secretly wanted all along, for all I know
so you need to make yourself useful enough to guarantee your freedom of action.

Magic ability is shown to be something extremely rare in this world, as one of the key reasons for the MC being in the world in the first place is to sustain a magical bloodline. If magic was available to every person on the planet and was capable of causing comparable havoc to even massed basic firearms, then I would agree with you.

In this case, with magic being rare, advanced mundane weaponry is far more valuable due to it's availability. Also something to remember is that it takes a few hours to teach somebody how to use a firearm, but could take many years to teach them how to use magic.
>>
>>157119022
And it's not like he's done nothing. One of his early acomplishments after he settles into his new life (please stop glossing over this very important fact) is that he solved the problem of why their VERY EXPENSIVE water wheels kept breaking. Thy assumed that having an even number of spokes was the way to go when in fact an odd number of spokes allows the weight of the wheel to still be evenly distributed (if I remember it correctly)

>>
>>157119174
>Also something to remember is that it takes a few hours to teach somebody how to use a firearm, but could take many years to teach them how to use magic.
If we want to be technical about it
you first have to consider the cost and work into making the musket in the first place
you need to pay workers to gather the raw material, train and pay craftsmen to make the object in question and even devolop the tools needed to even begin the work in the first place
in fact in the beginning the muskets would only be wielded by those rich enough to buy it

bottom line is you're only looking at the surface and ignoring everything behind the scenes that need to be in place beforehand

you can't just say bring me "saltpeter and sulfur"
there's no guarantee they even encountered any of that, whether they had the ability to recognize it or not in the first place.

Thats why I said in my earlier post you need to be prepared to invent from scratch
>>
>>157119564
There's always a liberal faction, you ally with them, but yeah it would be really hard. Just pointing out that really entry level modern knowledge is potent stuff in it's own right, you don't need to have the engineering knowhow to build guns or a printing press or whatever.

>>
>>157118452
Not really, sulfuric and nitric acids were around by ca. 1000. Add a textile, and you get guncotton. Run the guncotton through a few cycles of washing with alcohols and drying, and, if you don't blow yourself up in the process, you have a primitive smokeless powder.

Now, that's not nearly as easy (and even more dangerous) as black powder, of course, which just requires you to wet equal parts saltpeter and ground charcoal (sulfur is actually optional, but recommended to help control the burn) and mix them with a mortar and pestle.
>>
>>157120424
At least they'd have my freakishly tall corpse stuffed and put on show for a while or something.
>>
>>157119783
And I suppose that the ability to use magic effectively is spontaneous? Obviously more effort goes into this than "here's a gun, here's how to load aim and fire." The bottom line is that the person using a weapon doesn't particularly need to know how it was made or how much effort went into the development of it. Once the weapon has been made and handed to him, all he needs to know is how to use it.

As for the problems of obtaining useable powder, I've already gone into this. It's not easy, and would be the biggest limiting factor in the entire endeavor. That's the novel component of the system that would require plenty of work.
>>
>>157118536
I haven't found an answer to this yet, but I suspect it may have something to do with metallurgy, which is required to make cannons that don't blow up.

Ancient China had really good metallurgy for its time, but I'm not certain about medieval China. There has to be some reason why they kept using cheap, disposable bamboo for barrels instead of brass or steel.
>>
>>157120664
And like in any good weebnovel it'd be something like 'Luckily there were enough raw materials already available but I had to buy them from an angry lesbian loli demon - here's how that went'

>>
>>157119783
I guess, another thing the MC could have brought over from our world, is the concept of a 'power multiplier'.
Spend 10 years training a mage and you have a powerful mage.
Spend 10 years perfecting musket production, and you have the world at your knees.
>>
>>157120835
Oh fuck. RtW makes so much more sense now.
>medieval not-europeans only use gunpowder for fireworks
>isekai'd chink makes it into a weapon
I guess they're still butthurt about it.
>>
>>157120789
Well yes, of course. There would be the need things just lying around, and nobody would have figured out what to do with them until the MC shows up and does his future-magic.

Without the magical demon-loli he would have to be able to identify and procure sufficient quantities of the materials himself, which would probably be the biggest hurdle.
>>
>>157118256
Wrong. Firearms weren't possible until the technology existed to forge a barrel out of a single piece of metal; if you welded two pieces together they would crack under the strain of the blast. Incidentally, this technology was first invented in Byzantium to make sturdy church bells. There's no reason to think that the specific metallurgical trick would be known wherever you show up.

Forging a solid barrel out of bronze is not a particularly difficult thing to do. Being that this world (or country, at least) appears to have a reasonable level of ability with concern to construction, it's not such a stretch to think that they can manage a simple cannon, if using shitty materials by modern standards.

Napoleonic war-era cannon were commonly bronze. It's a reasonably easy metal to work with, and is sturdy enough to handle the pressure from black powder. The Victoria Cross medals are actually made from a chunk of bronze taken off of a captured chinese-made cannon, as a neat sidenote.

The issue with bronze is that it isn't really suited to making small arms. It requires too much material and thus is too heavy and too expensive. Steel is of course the material of choice here, and I'm not at home to be searching through the source material to see if steel is commonly available in this setting.
