The popularity makes sense.

You can't have powerlevel debates about MP100. No titties, either.

OPM has more likeable side characters, more interesting villains (at least, compared to the ones in the first part of MP100), and it also has better art (because of Murata).

Also, the premise of OPM is a lot more memorable: "This guy looks retarded but he's actually invincible. Look at him crushing anyone with a single blow."
Whereas MP100: "This guy is an esper. He's really strong and can lose control sometimes."

OPM: Good art thanks to Murata, and plenty of sexy ladies and pretty boys. Starts strong and stays simple then expands the setting horizontally by adding more characters. Large cast means everyone can find a favorite.

Mob100: No characters stand out. Starts slow and gets stronger as it develops characters backstories. Gains more depth by not adding too many characters and enhances the small cast.

If the setting doesn't hook the average person immediately then they won't stay for Mob's cast to grow.

They are the suckiest studio.
They almost ruined boku no hero and they most certainly ruined MOB.
They have no feel for impact, pace or timing.

Its disgusting how bad they are at those basic things.
Nothing in their shows is hype, because they are so plain in how they construct a narrative.
