What I got out of the story is Taiga's a spoiled brat who got her own way (doesnt want to live with her father's new wife so she has her own freaking apartment, monetary allowance) and after being frienzoned by Kitamura twice she grew up a bit and realized she doesnt always get the things she wanted.

You know what it bothers me of Toradora? That you could remove Taiga and LITERALLY NOTHING would change, except that Midori and Ryuji would be happy together but I guess people will think i'm shitposting if I said that, oops.

I think the premise of two outcasts helping each other and develop sibling bonds is more interesting. Back when the novel wasn't finished there was even a theory that Ryuji and Taiga are half-sibling, what with Ryujimom treating her like a daughter. When they change Taiga into a main romantic interest I felt the story became another bland tsundereXloser romcom.
