The infinite power escalation really ruined DB in your opinion?

Isn't this the only point of DB?

The real problem with Dragon Ball is the pacing. The early parts are fun because the fights are short, but have a lot go on in that time and most of the time is spent on character interactions. By the time Z rolls around there are a couple of episodes where anything actually happens and where the characters get to have real personalities, followed by most of the story arc just being fights.

The best part of Dragon Ball is the characterization, but it gets pushed to the side later on. Even when you get into Z the best parts are things like Gohan and Krillin hanging out on Namek or Mister Satan and Buu bonding, but the vast majority of the time is instead spent watching people power up for several episodes at a time.
