It was beautiful. I really liked how they did it. It could have looked lazy if they just threw some old scenes in the OP but it looked creative. I love the song too. I might even like it more than the first one.

I really like the new OP even if they ended up using 100% recycled animation. Having a whole bunch of scenes and stuff play out all over the city is great for representing the series. I immediately thought that I'll be enjoying picking out different things each time I watch it.

I always loved this series but what does make humans different from tanukis? Shouldn't tanukis be superior? They can transform and stuff. I end up seeing tanukis as human shapeshifters rather than another species.

it's all right, but i much prefer the first season's opening.
i'm also iffy on this season as a whole so far. the first episode wasn't good at all, as it was just a lackluster way to introduce the new character, throwing aside any sort of direction as it shoved confusing dialogue into our mouths.

the second episode was pretty good though, with a seemingly fun plot opening up, and i hope it gets even better.

Yeah I was a little overwhelmed with all the stuff they through at us in the first Episode as well. I still enjoyed it alot though. I definitely agree that the second episode was better. The new character is really fun and its enjoyable to see Yasaburou beaten at his own game. His backstory is awesome btw.

there isn't any real "difference" so to say. it's simple enough to say because they are tanuki, they are not human. there's no reason behind this, it's "just cause", like many other things in the world of the series.
the entirety of the first season pretty much tries to tell us that there isn't much reason behind anything at all in the world, hence why several characters contradict themselves throughout the series, often admittedly. the whole Shimogamo family's "idiot blood" is the most blatant example of this, as the whole family uses it to explain things they do without reason.

I love how supernatural elements are handled in these series, no power levels or overt explanations of all the weird things that happen

Not like the first episode of S1 wasn't confusing as hell too. I didn't find S2 episode 1 confusing at all, though. I actually really enjoyed it.
