The movies are just an early screening of the first 6 episodes of S2. Those 6 episodes are known a "Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de aru - Washio Sumi no Sho" (Washio Sumi's chapter. The other 6 episode will be the proper sequel.

I think it would be a great idea further down the line (especially if NoWaYu gets the movie treatment as well). Symphogear season 1 also deserves this treatment.

Though it does leave me to wonder if the movie would compile all 12 episodes of s1 or just be 3 sets of 3-4 compiled episodes.

I didn't have a problem with episode 12's length, though it was very fast paced. They really only needed to have added one more episode which could've been Sonoko After (instead of the published version we got over a month later as the LN epilogue). But it didn't happen and Sonoko After will probably be episode 13 of the series/episode 7 of season 2 so it is what it is. Better late than never for sure.

The idol unit was one of Sonoko's dreams, she had a bunch of random hilarious dreams about various topics. Like Aki-sensei turning evil and banning them from eating udon.

Gin's fight was better than anything you could possibly imagine. For some reason my vision was extremely blurry and fuzzy as I came out of the cinema so I can't comment on everyone else.

Gin trains with her weapon, thinking about how she's not smart like Wasshi or a good leader like Sonoko, so has to fulfill her duty on the front-line. Then they play with her little brother (not the one in the LN picture, the older 5-year old one, 鉄男/Tetsuo). Wasshi tries to teach him about Japanese naval history and he tells them that Gin always talks about her two friends when she's at home.

A few days later and Gin is acting strange so Sonocchi and Wasshi ask her what's wrong. She admits that she's not sure what to get Tetsuo for his birthday, so they all decide to head to the local mall and find something together. There's a bunch of good stuff like toys and books but it's all far too expensive for Gin to buy, so they decide to make something themselves.

Wasshi makes a board game based off Japanese history, and Sonocchi makes a けん玉/Kendama. And Gin makes a picture book, which on the day of his birthday they get her to read to everyone.

It's about 3 young goats (kids?). One is a carefree easygoing happy kid, one is a serious hard-working kid, and one is an energetic mischievous kid. They're always together and enjoying life happily as the best of friends. Until one day a wolf attacks, and they run away and try to hide in a small cave. But the cave is too small and only 2 of them will fit. And the energetic kid thinks about her treasured, precious friends and how much she doesn't want to lose them, and so she pushes them into the cave, and stands outside to defend them. The wolf is much stronger and more powerful than her, but through willpower and guts she drives it off. The serious kid is angry at her for her reckless behaviour, and the easygoing kid agrees, saying "We always have to be together, all 3 of us". And the 3 of them lived happily ever after.

Tetsuo is very happy with his presents, and Gin thinks about how great her friends are, how much she loves them and how she would do anything to protect them. Anything.

I think WaSuYu is pretty unusual in many ways. Family/relatives are somewhat relevant, Aki-sensei is a thing, there are classmates and non-hero friends with actual names and even boys who are in love with the yuushas are mentioned. Most other parts of the franchise keep all of that to a bare minimum.

It's partly because WaSuYu has only 3 main characters while the other two have 6, so they have more time and space for relevant side characters. I actually really like the group dynamic here, Sonocchi, Wasshi and Gin are all really close and each have very distinct and cute relationships with each other, it's much more tight-knit than the other series, where they tend to just pair the characters up.
