The rolling girls was pure journey, some mobage adaptations actually explore their settings, Dog Days actually gave us loads of settings but cut corners in the traveling part it's decent for an Anime original in that sense. YMMV but Space Dandy was one heck of a trip despite being episodic.

Actually good traveling animes require a setting, good characters, good character interactions to fill the space between settings and good interactions between the cast and the environment. Those are the core elements of a journey history, but they are very easy to fuck up.

We need both exploration and likeable characters with a competent writer for it to not suck.

Just look at the new Toei 3D/2D terrible mashup. I have seen many anime where they try blend them and they always ended being shit and distracting as fuck. Brave Witches and that subaru car anime are another good example of terrible usage of 3D. Kemofure was exceptional in this regard. The storytelling work with what they have. I think its more of a european thing to make animals go extinct. The chinese do kill tigers as aphrodisiac but at least they got the initiative to breed them in special farms(they call it zoos) to get easier access and more product (btw the starving tigers you see in those farms is due to a WWF (European governed) rule, you can only use a zoo tiger's body parts if it dies naturally, i;e starvation or old age).
