I think it has something to do with the Otsutsuki clan being aliens. Which means as their branches produced more and more generations, the Otsutsuki alien features just dissipate. Examine Momoshiki and Kaguya, they were the most alien, they had the ability to command multiple dojutsu at a time. But when their race breeds with humans, the kekkai genkai would always split and manifest into the two offspring(giving their clan and future generations the manifested kekkei genkai). See Kaguya with Hagoromo/Hamura and Hagoromo with Asura/Indra.

So, I dropped Shippuden back whenever and only followe the manga. Last couple of days I've been watching the final couple dozen or so episode to see how they handled the ending. Watched from the episode where they defeat Kaguya. The episodes where Naruto and Sasuke fight were pretty damn good. They handled that really well in my opinion. I then skipped like 4 episodes of flashback filler and now it's apparently some post-timeskip story about exploding humans. Here's why it can work. In The Last when Hinata used Hamura's chakra to destroy the Tenseigan with Naruto she never transformed like you normally would when imbued with Ootsutsuki chakra. All she does afterwards is use it to replenish Naruto so he can stop Toneri from falling into space.
