So what exactly was the point of all this? The cerulean shuts down in the dark. It wasn't even looking at them and hadn't reacted in any way to Kaban-chan jumping in. It likely stopped because the bear got too far away with the torch. If it had turned to chase them I could understand, but it's just sitting there exactly like it was when they first rolled up in the bus. This is completely needless drama.

Have we ever seen a cerulean be attracted to Kaban alone? Has she always been either in the company of friends or wielding fire when receiving attention from ceruleans? Is it possible that, being a human and not made out of sandstar, a cerulean would actually walk right past Kaban and ignore her? The final scene where Kaban is apparently flattened, could the cerulean be simply walking toward a source of light and putting one feet dramatically close to her while ignoring her as a target?
