The first movie is literally just exposition for the next two. It's absolutely gorgeous from a visual standpoint and the first meeting between Araragi and Kiss-Shot is one of the best animated scenes I have ever seen, but NOTHING FUCKING HAPPENS.

They're movies with an OVA style funding

They couldn't afford to do this shit if they didn't sell half of it in the middle to keep justifying costs
