Konosuba is meant to be a parody of "NEET gets thrown into a fantasy world" shows like SAO.

SAO sucks because the MC is a generic self-insert and one of the biggest Gary Stus in the history of anime. I know that the phrase "Gary Stu" gets thrown around a lot nowadays, but I'm not exaggerating. He's inexplicably bad-ass at everything he does, and all the female characters want his dick even though he's a boring faggot.

The female characters are actually all pretty great, but they all become useless as soon as they become obsessed with the MC (which is always). SAO would honestly be a decent show if they had cut out the MC and left just the female characters.

SAO is supposed to be set in an MMORPG, but evidently the author of SAO has never actually played an MMORPG (the MC is labeled as a "cheater" just because he was a beta player before the game they'll all trapped in came out. In no MMORPG would beta players ever be labeled "cheaters").

Finally, the premise that made SAO semi-interesting in the first place (they'll all trapped in an MMORPG and have to beat it or they'll all die) is abandoned mid-way through the first season when they suddenly beat the game without warning. What comes afterward is cliched generic fantasy shit set in a bad fantasy MMORPG the characters all play.
