In this episode we saw the standard themes of this anime: birds are the superior animals, technology is good, and Kaban (aka the human soul) is superior to the brute animals.

The interesting point here though is their take on ghosts. Usually ghosts are considered a sort of emotional psychical imprinting of a place, which is why haunted houses are about revenge and suffering. Here we see the ghost (because Mirai IS a ghost) is both that, because we see Mirai in a distressed state, when she was happy we never saw her ghost, and a product of technology that the cast doesn't understand, essentially conveying the point that advanced technology is completely supra natural and no more technology.

Beyond this, there is another layer. The point of this whole episode was that there is no memory in ruins, and there is no memory in books either. It follows that the author, or the artist, does not become immortal because he wrote or did something. Was it a coincidence that Wolf was known for being an author but a contemporary one, while no author book author was mentioned?
What is then that makes you immortal? but the machine, of course, An immortal, perfect, body of metal, a grave for your spirit while your meat and bones are re-made alive time after time.

This complete love for the machine is similar to the futurist spirit. There is always a dislike for museum and libraries, and there is a glorification of the action (Mirai is being recorded while she's doing something to change things). If we consider that the purpose of having a kid is simply making you immortal, then Boss is basically Mirai's kid, in a modern Mafarka le futuriste tale.
There is an opposition to the futurist message though, here is no cult of the speed, among other things, to the point that this takes the aspect of a more female version of futurism. It can't simply be a post world war futurism view, because there the speed would still matter. Bio-futurism, maybe?

Here's what a Taiwanese anon said about Cerulean the game:

Cerulean will take away the 'spark' of living beings or to objects while mimic their appearance.
This 'spark' is an abstract quality that could be said as friendship, hope, bond, memories, talents, confidence or character
There are ways to regain one's lost spark, even just beating the cerulean at times, but there's no guarantee of getting it back.
Cerulean will also emulate friends from incomplete info.
Cerulean can steal even the ability to talk and cause the "gaogao" sickness among friends.

There's the possibility that Kaban-chan may be a Cerulean.
