Talking the series that preceded JoJo, Baoh: The Visitor, Tanihara expressed amazement that such a series could have been released on Shonen Jump, a manga magazine that targets younger people. Araki responded, “It’s because Jump [is the way it is] that [Baoh] was released… Jump has a platform that accepts such things.” The spiritual predecessor to JoJo, Baoh was a series used the “power of life” as its main theme, focusing on what the ultimate organism would be. It was in Part three, Stardust Crusaders, and the introduction of Stands—psychic projections with various abilities that the characters use to fight with—that Araki switched from physical power to mental and spiritual power. “At the start of JoJo, I was focused on the body, but as time went on, I began feeling that the heart, the darkness inside people was truly scary.” Araki remarked. “The idea of Stands came from the idea to try to draw the heart/soul… If I could properly depict what couldn’t be seen in my drawings, I thought that would be very fitting for a manga.”

Also [I wondered] if the actors would be able to portray the atmosphere.” Japan has a spotty track record at best when it comes to live-action adaptations. English fanbase tends to be more kind towards Part 6. It's genuinely progressive and has pretty well-written characters so it's right up their alley while Part 6 is the super deep, introspective Part of the OG universe and killed off fan-favorite Jotaro of all characters. Giorno didn't die against Diavolo, and he wouldn't have even without Requiem. Bruno is just a hyper competent second protagonist because the entire story is about Giorno making a secret agreement with him and playing on his sympathies for the Italian youth.

I'm sorry if this goes against your elaborate headcanon that you're so attached to, but Giorno isn't some cold, clinical guy who only cares about gaining control of the mafia. The reason he spared Buccellati is because he saw that Buccellati was a good person who cared about children and righteousness, and Giorno respected that and saw a kindred spirit.

Buccellati is the only one of the gang who Giorno truly opens himself up to, and he's also the one who sees Giorno at his most vulnerable. When Giorno notes that Buccellati has died, he's left trembling and despairing - and if you paid attention to his story, you'd know that Giorno trembling is a REALLY BIG DEAL and a direct throwback to his traumatic childhood, where he trembled instead of cried because he knew crying wouldn't do any good. He's obviously deeply shaken by the deaths of his comrades, and goes out of his way to honor them and talks about their sacrifices when killing Diavolo.

Giorno inspires the people around him to be the best they can be, he doesn't just manipulate them while seeing them as interchangeable tools. This Giorno that you're defending the honor of is something you made up in your own head, or you picked up from reading Purple Haze Feedback.
