Yusei is like battlelust Goku, except Yusei lives for the thrill of dueling. Jack is edgy as fuck but does not have a past with Yusei. Kiryu/Kallen is depressed like anime.

No it was very different. In the anime, Yusei was an orphan and grew up with Kiryu, Jack, and Crow. They were a gang that beat other gangs and broke their duel disks and shit
Kiryu got too edgy and started killing people, they went fucks to this shit and broke up
Then Jack left because he wanted to be the most powerful
