They should've just held off Negi fully losing control and confrontation for the real final battle. At least Akamatsu finally gained some sense and apparently isn't gonna escalate past The Lifemaker on the power scale. That would've been even worse than Evangeline and the nobles.

It feels like the only thing that may as well have happened this arc is hammering in the fact Touta really needs to start level grinding and fast, otherwise feels like fucking nothing of lasting consequence has happened since Naked Loli Race started.

Can't even accurately get a bead on this from Negima's ending because of timeline bullshit, There are two Asuna's one whose still asleep and one who was brought back from the future to the past to live out her life, We have no fucking idea which Asuna this one is, we can't even tell if this is the original cast from the manga or their other timeline selves. Fuck dammit,Ken. On top of that, the regular protagonists are so weak in personality and battle skill it's hard to care about them at all. They're just place holders til the people everyone cares about show up again.

UQ Holder is pretty much proof that Negima was the perfect storm for catching lightning in a bottle. You'd think it's impossible to go from something like Negima to UQ Holder, but Mashima went from Rave Master to Fairy Tail.

I think it's that, and partially Ken just burnt himself out on the series. Look at how absurdly detailed the world building and magic system in Negima was, something he stuck with for almost a decade. He's getting up in age and the world building we've gotten has been utter shit in comparison.
