Naruto has a very strong secondary cast. Everyone loves Kakashi, Rock Lee, Shikamaru, Jiraya, Hinata, etc.

Sasuke and Sakura are the worst characters in the show.

The side characters are nice enough, even if Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura themselves are terrible.

I honestly think that Naruto's the worst character.

Sasuke's a generic edgelord whose story was dragged out way, way too long. He was atleast consistently entertaining though, albeit usually for the wrong/unintended reasons (getting wrecked by Killer Bee, getting wrecked by the Kages, going 200% maximum edge, etc) and he didn't completely overshadow other characters in the scenes with him (Orochimaru, Danzo, and so on)
Sakura's a cunt but proved to be halfway decent when seperated from the other two as seen in the Sasori stuff, whereas the other are just shit whether together or alone period.
Whereas Naruto was just consistently annoying and obtrusive to the story at all times. Even if you don't dislike his "obnoxious dumbass" character or don't mind that he's a typical "actually was the strongest all along" shounen MC archtype, every scene he's in revolves solely around him and any other characters only get to be interesting when they get to go off on their own. Which would be fine except he's the dullest character, he gets through every conflict through the same "talk no jutsu" shit and Kishi isn't even good enough of a writer to actually make any of the shit he says inspiring. Somehow he actually makes for being the worst protagonist of the three (and half of the other Konoha genin, or Kakashi, or Jiraiya would make better protags than all three of them probably)

Sasuke just went full edge and didn't really deserve to be redeemed in the end (seriously, he was going to murder the kages while they were still in those pods just because he could) and Sakura had potential once Shipudden started but then slowly faded back into the background while Naruto and Sasuke did all the work against moon bunny.

Wasn't worth it at the cost of putting up with 500+ chapters of him getting through almost every single conflict through the exact same method. Hell most of his "growth" happens during the last couple arcs, for most of the story he's the same. It was around the same time Kishi suddenly remembered what world building was and dumped all that background exposition all at once.

He was definitely the worst thing about this series, Sasuke was an edgelord (and not even a fun edgelord outside of the times where he's unintentionally funny) but he wasn't even around 2/3rds of the time.
