Never understood why people think 5cm/s, and especially the ending, is "depressing". If anything, it ends on an uplifting note, with the overall message being "shit happens, you don't always get what you want, but life goes on". I tend to rewatch it when >tfwnogf gets bad and it always makes me feel better.
