The amount of fanservice in some episodes is enormous.... but is not that much in the entire series so I guess that people only judge the serie by those episodes.

This. In Urusei Yatsura's (and by extension, Takahashi's) case, it definitely did ecchi right. It didn't show tits for the sake of showing tits (although I don't have a problem with that, either), they just had realistic scenes without having to censor much for a purpose.
