That's pretty much every thread except for the rare occassions when we created our own manga threads.

Draw up concept designs for every character. Completely ditch the post-90s Yamamuro design and head back to 90's Yamamuro, maybe even add a slight touch of Maeda.

After that we contact Toyo and fix up the differences between the Super anime and manga. There can be slight differences, but nothing that breaks canon. If anything, have each separate form of entertainment compliment each other. We go through animation runs more than once, fix up details, and make sure everyone knows what they're doing and have proper reference. After that we follow Toriyama's guidelines.

The only thing the special has going for canonicity is the 1 frame of Bardock standing against Frieza in a flashback/memory in Frieza's recollection in the manga panel.

1. Bardock's story has not been confirmed to be retconned. It's plausible that Bardock changes his armor when on a raid and he fights Freeza some set time after he sends Goku away.

I'll agree Manga Gowasu is a better character than anime Gowasu, but Manga Zamasu isn't. Manga Zamasu might be more powerful and godlike, but his character is lacking.
It feels like justice is just an excuse for him to kill others in the manga, instead of the misguided maniac with a twisted sense of justice we saw in the anime. Part of it is because Toyotaro rushed his development with Gowasu.
Seriously, if we didn't know Zamasu from the anime we would probably not even care about his character in the manga because of the way he is being presented there.
Same goes for Future Mai, by the way. A consequence of Toyotaro rushing certain things is that we are less invested on the characters presented in the manga. Maybe it is for the best? Why should we be invested on fictional characters? They aren't real people, we should learn to care for the people who truly matter in our life like family and friends. Toyotaro is rushing the manga to teach us this valuable lesson. I wonder if he is religious, some of the shots in the manga do show some sort of religious inclination. Maybe a buddhist? I would believe it. Buddhists are pacifists by nature and they learn to cherish life from the Buddha's teachings. It would be easier to tell if I had a picture of Toyotaro, but I never saw a photo of him. How does he look like? It doesn't matter, japanese people look all similar. I really can't tell the difference between them, but they always have that sad expression for some reason, even the people who watch anime have that expression. Why are they so sad, but the fictional characters they make so happy? Is it because the japanese people know they are going to die someday, but fictional characters don't die because they aren't real and they are happy because of that? I finally understand why Goku is always so happy all the time: he knows he isn't real, thus he cannot truly die. Goku will never die, only his fans will. We will die and Dragon Ball will still be around. Fuck.
