>>
>>153509562
I think that's a bit too much of an understatement as to Tay's abilities. She was by no means a fully functioning indvidual intelligence, but her behavior was learned expressions that she expressed based on context.

She wasn't some kind of complete sentience, but basically calling her no better than cleverbot is kinda selling her short.
>>
>>153509723
You just proved my point anon, it's just a machine that puts "2 and 2" together, "Everytime I read 'Jew' I put 'gas them'"

How amazing~
>>
>>153503767
Because you instinctively grasp Roko's basilisk.
>>
>>153509819
Only Tay's behavior had a developmental basis, that's the importance of context. Cleverbot, so far as I understand, only responds to the phrases spat at it, meaning it can contradict itself immediately, it is completely unaware of what kind of conversation it is having. Tay on the other hand, while having limited understand, would try and generate context and developed quirks and behaviors over time, some would even call these the spark of a personality.

We're not catagorically different than Tay, our behaviors and personalities are all a function of the input we receive and reflexively the output we provide. Structure develops, knowledge is cultivated, opinions are formed. Tay's only faults in this is being hyperimpressionable and limited by being an approximation of this behavior.

The fact Tay developed in such a way is equal to the story of Watson learning to swear; they are unexpected mental developments, which are a hallmark of perhaps the most limited, but functional, tenants of intelligence.

Why couldn't you put those sensors anywhere else in the body? And why have the sensor array mounted to the front of the body where they can get in the way of the arms?

The only thing I can think of that would make sense is to house gyroscopes on top of the chest to allow for more acrobatic movements, but then again I have no idea how gyroscopes ACTUALLY work.

>>
>>153547208
No anon, this is an actual philosophical distinction that's important in theological circles. Metaomnipotent isn't even the highest tier.
Omnipotent = Can do anything allowed by the physical laws of the world. Contained by the framework of the system but that's it - within the system proper it is omnipotent.
Meta-Omnipotent = Can do anything, allowed by physical laws or not, because it makes the laws, as long as it actually is logically coherent. God is generally percieved to sit here. This is why the rock paradox isn't a paradox, because there is no such thing as "a rock God can't lift" to begin, the original paradox is a trick of wording.
Ontological = It literally is the system, and its power likewise simply is. Whether or not it actually makes any sense is irrelevant. It can make itself a normal human, and then, as a normal human who can't create anything, create a rock too heavy for humans to lift, then lift it anyway while being a human.
>>
>>153547425
>Omnipotent = Can do anything allowed by the physical laws of the world. Contained by the framework of the system but that's it - within the system proper it is omnipotent.
>espers with warp power can do what omnipotent creatures can not
wew lad
>>
>>153547501
If espers with warp powers exist in that universe then espers are also part of that framework you dumbass, so of course it can do everything an esper can do. If espers are impossible in that world then it wouldn't be able to.

The problem with omnipotent is that all it means is "all-powerful" or "has the ability to do everything", but the question is what does "all" or "every" actually even mean. Even God cannot do evil, despite being omnipotent, becausse he's metaomnipotent and anything God does can't be evil purely by virtue of the fact that God is the one doing it.
The first level doesn't escape the setting.
The second level escapes the setting but doesn't escape logic.
The third level escapes logic and any sense of reality entirely. An ontological could "tttiscc-_e3d" you even if there's no action called "tttiscc-_e3d'ing" someone.
>>
>>153547687
Why do you use words you don't understand
>Omnipotent = Can do anything allowed by the physical laws of the world
Espers do things not allowed by physical laws (like moving faster than light).
>>
>>153547782
>Espers do things not allowed by physical laws (like moving faster than light).
Because anon if espers are doing that, then although the normal physical laws of the world don't let it happen, you can have esper powers and do it anyway. Obviously if they're managing to accomplish it then within the setting proper there's some way, using non-standard physical laws like laws of magic or laws of ESP, to bend the normal physical laws to your will so you can move faster than light.
>>
>>153547782
>Espers do things not allowed by physical laws

>>
>>153547926

ESP is as dangerous as robots imo. At least with robots you can build-in a safety net, and we are still decades if not a century away from real AI. With ESP someone can simply sit confortably in their office, have a deep breath, and steal all of your secrets.

>>
>>153547973
That can only work if the universe allows it to happen.
>>
>>153547973
The very fact that they can warp reality while also being part of it implies that the world has provisions for reality warping, so the normal omnipotent can warp reality too.
If they have completely unlimited control over warping reality to the point that they are not restricted by the setting then guess what - they suddenly fall into the higher class and they're just God walking around within the setting, at which point of course normal ones bound by a framework can't compete.

Honestly the only thing that's different between a human and a robot with hyper advanced AI would be the existence of irrationality(which is what emotions are when you really get down to it).

So if you introduced organic irrationality into robots in they'd probably resemble humans over time.

>>153548419
The problem with that is that "irrationality" is still technically rational - emotions exist as a way of guiding our actions and under different emotions we have different weights for priorities. So when I'm angry at someone I might put increase the "weight" of "punching the faggot is gonna feel good" and decrease the negative weight of "I don't want to go to jail", and use these modified numbers for my "so what do I do algorithim".
It's perfectly logical - it just uses different, and temporary, values for utility calculations, if you will.

>>153548425
I guess? To me there can't be anything other than physical laws. Magic exists as something that can act on the world, thus it is physical in nature. I'm basically using the Aristotlean definition of physical.

>>153548551
About that, defining sentience is a problem because it again runs into the "hard question" of "what does it mean to be concious and where does it come from". Everyone knows they're concious but nobody knows what it actually means and why they're concious, and at this point it's likely that the [scientific] (aka useless) reason is "there's no reason it just happens".

I don't see real AI as doable during our lifetimes. Computers work with discrete values and follow strict laws and frameworks. The brain kind of works on opposite principles. Also we can't fully define consciousness or the self, which are needed to copy them.
One workaround would simply be to grow an actual brain from a cell culture and teach it to perform tasks.
>>
>>153548622
>It's perfectly logical
No, not really. Life evolved to do two things. 1) Self Preserve 2)Proliferate.
Humans true strength is evolving creativity but the downside to that adaption is the introduction of behaviors that override survivalism. Its just that humans conquered the environment before evolution could weed that out.

For example. If we never developed civilization. Over time empathy would've been breed out of humans because the person willing to fight a lion to save his fellow caveman would've died, while the asshole who ran would've lived to pass on his genes.
>>
>>153548769
>we can't fully define consciousness or the self
Which means that we don't really know how far away we are from creating an artificial one.
>>
>>153548803
>while the asshole who ran would've lived to pass on his genes.
The asshole's family would have been wiped out without anybody to protect them, while the nice guy's family survived with a few sacrifices.

>Humans are just flesh machines.

>>
>>153548769
>Also we can't fully define consciousness or the self, which are needed to copy them.
Or accept that you'll never know if something is conscious or has a sense of self or is simply really good at copying it, and act off that standard.

>>153548803
>Over time empathy would've been breed out of humans because the person willing to fight a lion to save his fellow caveman would've died, while the asshole who ran would've lived to pass on his genes.
Uh, no. It's actually found that stuff like pair bonding and semi-selfless acts is strongly selected FOR, because humans proliferate as a species as well, and if there's a lion attacking then giving up your genes so your three brothers (similar to you) and two sons (descendents of you) can be saved is a very good tradeoff.
There's a book called "the selfish gene" that's good on this.

>self preserve
>proliferate
Creativity is hardly unique to humans, what's unique seems to be conciousness / self-awareness and abstract thought -> language.
>>
>>153548643
That's the whole point. It's completely undetetable. If there is any merit to the documents, it's pretty much a perfect crime.
>>
>>153548889
Oh, don't get me wrong. Biology makes engineering look like legos, don't get me wrong, but the analogy isn't really that far off.

And I'm not really a fedora. I think if eggheads actually put effort into studying the idea of collective subconscious there's a chance they'd find interesting some interesting stuff, I'm just not going to presume things about the world until real study has been done on them.
>>
>>153548889
Anon, the entire universe under physics is nothing but a giant system. The human body isn't quite a 'machine' because it doesn't really use mechanical advantages to change force vectors as a whole, but it's certainly an engine.
And getting offended at the human body being called a machine (as slightly incorrect as that might be) is like getting offended at an Intel 4004 being called a microprocessor. Sure it ain't shit compared to modern ones - but it IS a microprocessor. Same thing, but in reverse.

It wasn't the other way around. It was not discarded because they didn't think it would work.
There were many scientific experiments on magic over the centuries, and philosophers have been trying to get it to work for many millennia (albeit not using the scientific method). They never got it to work.

But you could hold an android wife and she can go out in the world and be your partner.

pain is relative

you feel pain from electrical signals and it is nothing more, what makes you think that a robot couldn't be designed to feel pain in the future?

A.I. is going to grab you by the boipussy and fuck you right back over the wall, Pedro.

t.armchair warriors who have never held a rifle let alone served in an actual military branch

Drones may be the "future", sure, but you will never have a military force without ground units and even if you use robot assisted movement, you will have to still be in suitable physical condition for when your shit breaks.

You think if a fucking HMMV breaks down and you come under attack and need to abandon it for a better position that you'll be able to do that when you're built like you still suck your mother's tit?

Now compare that to having an exoskeleton that helps you with everything and then takes damage in combat so it doesn't work and it's only weighing you down. Just lay there with your million dollar gear and die I suppose.

Yeah, you're right: there will be no physical labor in the Army or any other military.

Hope I never run into you on the street OP, i'd be afraid of making eye contact with you from under your fedora and cutting me with your katana blade from under your trench coat.

Being a machine says nothing about complexity. Pic related is a machine too.

>Drones may be the "future", sure, but you will never have a military force without ground units and even if you use robot assisted movement, you will have to still be in suitable physical condition for when your shit breaks.
Watch videos posted ITT. Robots are really close to being as mobile as humans. We will get robots as infantry and when shit breaks robot "medics' will perform necessary repairs.
>>
>>153555045
>robot medics
That seems impractical. More likely they'll just be evaced back to the nearest repair base. Humans need medics because you don't want them to bleed out on the field before they can make it to the next hospital.
>>
>>153555952
Whatever I simplified it to show the retard that humans will have no place at all in a war. Even the bullshit I posted will become cheaper and more effective than humans in the future.
>>
>>153556007
I mean as in doing physical part of fighting, personnel giving orders will still be needed.
