Really? I enjoyed the fight the whole way through and found it to be incredibly tense when Buccelati almost got fucked over by Pesci. Also, Prosciutto the entire time was a badass and I remember GD half for him. Except for a few characters and names or references, Araki doesn't really do callbacks to previous parts. The only recurring villain is Dio for example, and even then you really don't need to have read part 1 to understand part 3.
This is done so you can pick up any part and still get the gist of it, of course if you take 6 you'll have trouble but everything is explained still (stands, jotaro killed Dio, etc). That's why stands are explained in every part even though you should know them by the time you get to part 8.
