Honestly, I've thought Kubo's possibly more autistic than piggy for a while and I can definitely understand getting fed up with her subtle nipponese ways where we're supposed to just pick up everything as she/sayo/the staff meant it to be.

However.

The club mates thing fits with what happened in show, that is, Yuuri wanting to reaffirm his bond with Victor so he can use it as fuel for his performance the next day. And why would he make that of all things his strength? Because they're soulmates, because they're in love. But Pig is also planning to let Victor go, has always seen his time with him as limited and probably expects Victor to drop him completely if they don't have to be together for work related reasons. After all Victor is charming, a celebrity, and could have anyone he wants. He doesn't have to make do with plain Yuuri.

Victor was at a point where, after the parking lot scene, he knows that should give Yuuri space and simply support him: regardless of what stage you think their relationship was at in Barcelona, they're at least aware that there's something more going on between them. Victor has no idea however that Yuuri doesn't feel this something will last and plans on letting him go, so even at different points where he should have spoken up (for example, encouraging Yuuri after his FS), he trusts him to be okay. He's basically overestimating Yuuri's own faith in himself and their relationship.
