I'm hoping they pull a Gurren Lagann and pull some major developments on the setting. Starts out kinda boring with cliche characters doing cliche things, but then Diana goes full crazy.

Sick of the school's financial fuckupery, retard witch teachers that don't know their own books or old languages, the decline and redundancy of magic in a scientific age, Diana goes full Witch Fuhrer. Declares the witch teachers as incompetent out-dated idiots actively damaging the school, breaks all their wands. Maybe kicks Akko out for only having 12 Int, leaving Akko to learn witchcraft the old fashion way; out in the Arcturus woods with some crazy old hermit.

Something other than just cute hi-jinks better happen. I thought the butterflies would lead to something, but they all just flew away.

Kobayashi is bland character that represent the best of human kind(Kindness, Charitable, Trustworthy, etc) she is their so the dragons could perceive humanity in a better light, it was already hind-sighted the moment she met Tooru, by pure luck of them both, help tooru out. How was Kobayashi able to met a dragon capable of tricking perception? It doesn't really matter, since that's not the point of the show. She's the device keeping the dragons in chain so the show could move on to the next phase. In a way, kobayashi is also Mary Sue of fujoshi, she is a perfect role model for fujos, kindhearted, welloff, giving, and have an unusual hobby but without a backstory. Her character is bland and her purpose is just one, to be the deus ex machina to continue the show, to make sure the dragons don't get stuck in a phase. Without her the dragons will be stuck and stay dumb, the perfect example of this is the seesaw scene, where Tooru thought it was a mini catapult, but later explained by Kobayashi herself that it isn't, as if the dragons are incapable of observation themselves.

Sure, there's cute dragons getting used to things in the human world and getting over their bad impressions of humans, but when you look past that you realize it's actually a story about Kobayashi getting her life on track.

She's starting to become bored of her monotonous life, so she's taken to drinking and venting with the only colleague who shares her hobby. she has a chance encounter with the dragon while drunk out of her mind, and is faced with a conundrum. She can either take responsibility for the promise she made, or go back on it and return to her monotonous life.
