Everything seems to be being set up for a Tomo/Jun catastrophe so what I would love to happen, is that we get the fireworks cliche, but it happens to Carol, then Jun and Tomo get to have their moment and it actually goes all smoothly and start dating, then so the next few chapters are about dealing with the Carol and Senpai aftermath as well as Misuzu feeling like a third wheel with some Tanabe advance thrown in for some good measure. We could have that for a while and when we get back to Tomo and Jun we find out they haven't done any couple stuff because they still get weird-ed out so they've just been hanging out like usual.

Basically for those unable to keep up with this L and Light tier keikaku blitz, I put the three relevant pages from the King's Game together

Essentially it's Carol and Misuzu as the literal angel and devil, Carol trying to help Tomo, Misuzu trying to screw her over. Keep in mind that two panels after this Misuzu is explicit in her own mind about being up to no good.

As for what Misuzu's plan is - pretty clearly it's to force Jun into a moment where he has to say yes or no definitetively to a romantice relationship with Tomo. I'll hypothesize that Misuzu's goal is for Jun to say "no" - which would break Tomo's heart.

Basically she's using Jun's deliberate EH NANDATTE tendencies against him. Why I have no idea, but that's the only way her actions are something even remotely to be guilty over. Hence why Carol is trying so hard to stop her - she sees that Misuzu is trying to kill the romance between Tomo and Jun by supporting it. Pushing the two into a situation they're not ready for but where backing out will lead to disaster.

So, a quick recap of Carol's introduction arc.

Carol sees Senpai interested in Tomo, she naturally wants Senpai for herself since she's engaged to Senpai(as in they made a childhood marriage promise), so she is determined to view Tomo as a rival.

She asks Misuzu for advice on how to beat Tomo. Misuzu redirects her to Jun, saying "He'll be how you beat Tomo."

Carol, being Carol, starts doing physical training with Jun because she literally intends to beat Tomo like a fucking English Knight having a duel.

It's only when she realizes that Misuzu meant that she should make Tomo jealous of her by appearing to date Jun that Carol calls off the training sessions.

Basically, Carol despises manipulation. The moment she realizes she's being used as a pawn by Misuzu she fucking bails - since she knows Tomo isn't into senpai and she also refuses to play dirty.

So here's what it is. Misuzu is guilt ridden and basically caught inbetween her desire to be a good friend and set Tomo up with the boy she loves, and her own personal feelings about Tomo.

In this page Misuzu sees Tomo and Jun together and realizes what she wants isn't to just make Tomo happy. Misuzu doesn't want to just be in the crowd clapping as she watches Tomo and Jun fuck, er, win dodgeball awards.
