>happy-go-lucky MC eventually becomes an angry, miserable misanthrope as series goes on
What's are the best example of this?

Not sure if Gon qualifies there, after all it was only temporary.

He basically killed himself and had to be revived by a deus ex machina before going back to square one.
>>153172508
Yeah, but point is he went back to square one. I'd be interested to see if HxH ever elaborates on that swing.
>>153172483
he is always happy go lucky even after losing his nen

Now and Then, Here and There, Fate series.
>>153172448
To be honest, I don't think Gon's personality really changes that much through the series. He's always been morally dubious and a little insane. The CA arc only showed how Gon reacts when he sees someone he's close to killed.

It always make me laugh how people claim HxH for that and somehow forget about naruto
>>153172508
They sort of elaborate in a the manga. Ging tells Gon that he can have his nen reawakened.

NAruto is like a rewritten HXH x Harry Potter crossover, though. And not a particularly good one.

>you
>happy go lucky

>HxH x Harry Potter
Funny enough that never struck me. Care to elaborate?

True, rescuing Sasuke was a mistake.

>Kishimoto wants to write some manga about a wizard school
>editor says no
>Kishi reworks it into some kind of ninja school
>editor gives a pass, tells him to add some edgy teenager as secondary protagonist because that is what kids like this days
>Kishi has no idea about where to take the story now that it has departed from the original concept
>proceeds to steal arcs and character concepts from HxH and YYH, but more padded out
>>153174864
The first arcs are actually better than anything from HxH though.
Baki is one.
Narumi from Karakuri Circus (which is a pretty good manga, actually)

There's nothing to elaborate on. He wanted revenge on the catant boy for killing Kite. He got it, Kite was reincarnated as a mouseant girl, problem solved.

Is honestly a better example than KamilleJudau punches Bright in the face because his entire journey was just a lie and people died because of it.
>>153176889
Literally the first thing Kamille does in Zeta is getting into arguments, getting punched, trying to beat the shit out of a member of a government elite force and hijacking a giant robot out of spite
I wouldn't describe him as happy go lucky
>>153176889
I don't think he was ever happy-go-lucky
>>153177244
>>153177247
He was never happy-go-lucky, but he was very naive at the beginning of the series about what it was like to fight in war, and realized what a miserable waste it was at the end.
>>153172483
>>153172565
He's definitely changed, like when he tells Ging that he wishes he had been the one to die and then tells Mito he's been a shit son to her
We haven't seen enough of him post-CA to say anything though, he was in like 2 or 3 chapters i think?
>>153174843
Doesn't he tell him the opposite? He says he lost his nen because of the covenant and that asking for more would be dangerous IIRC

That doesn't describe Gon at all.
