Also, your sense of pacing is messed up, we have 5 episodes and we are having characters getting well established and basic worldbuilding expanded, so I'm going to ask you again: Are you Imaishifags? Because personally beliving the episode was "boring" and that Diana was a "Mary Sue" is one thing, but trying to look out real problems in the episode will be useless because there are basically none, except the way how the story is treating the adult characters so far.

I loved this episode, it might be my favourite so far. Diana knowing Dragonese didn't bother me plotwise, it just felt the same as her knowing everything else she's known in the series, like correcting the teachers and winning the broom race.

The animation was awesome and we got to hear Constanze's VA, even though it was just one scream. I laughed out loud when Hannah and Barbera made the weird kazoo noise on sticking their tongues out. I laughed at Jasminka working the pump (Something about the sound effects and camera angles is funny to me). The whole dragon fight scene was cool. I liked it.

No one really can. Why? Because there are none. Whoever attempts to say "too fast" or "too slow" is lying.At most, what people might point out to you are their personal opinions about what was "boring" or about the characterizations of the characters, this week, it was Diana's turn.

But the episode' pacing was fine, in line with the previews ones, except maybe the 3rd episode where things moved a little fast, but no issues.

One thing that might get general consensus is about the way the Professor characters are being treated so far. Their status as reliable characters is being compromised. Personally, Finneran should be the one explaining the situation and then giving credit to Diana at the end. Also, the lack of Akko'a attempt to use the Shiny Rod.

To be honest, that's actually quite normal. Just look at Yoshinari's stuff, he always do shit with a shit ton of lines, often doubling lines in order to give more depth to his drawings, etc. He also use a lot of different styles as he also does a lot of illustrations (and worked on Valkyrie Profile with his brother in the past).
So Im really not surprised that his more experimental designs were rejected in favor of something more traditional, look at pic related. I worked as an assistant animator, If we had to clean and in-between a design like that the animation and assisting supervisors would just ask for new designs.

Yeah I dunno, that was the weakest part of the episode.

I guess what happened was they signed it, the school degenerated over the decades, and now none of the teachers know how to read it and have just assumed the dragon will never come back (He hadn't been seen for 100 years at the time of the episode).
