In essence this is what they did. After all, In Spite of a Nail applies. What I didn't like though was how they compressed something on the scale of Clannad into 1cour. That's just unfair. They shortened the Common Route too far; they could have just gave more POV in the Common Route, to give a different feel to the VN. They could have, you know, at least animated the Mysteries. Instead they tried to put as much info in each episode to the point where anime-onlys kept missing each episode, unlike in Madoka where each hint was clear and concise.

The anime was OK, had it been longer. Hell, I would have been ok with a split 10-episode cour like in Illya.

The problem why this didn't happen? Because companies like Kodansha who would fund the anime because didn't like spending money on more quality. Fuck them.

Playing through Ignis Memoria's early stages where Kotarou and everyone else is aware of Gaia, Guardian and the whole thing about the [Key] is unnerving.

Shizuru - Not sure yet, probably AoE with buff if the trend is to follow
Lucia - I can't get any card off her lol, but possibly she's a hard single hitter like Kotarou with Poison debuff.

VN was super overrated. It only had a few decent/good moments, and those were drowned out by the overall mediocrity of the heroine routes and really stupid shit like skipping the Earth Dragon fight.

The anime just made everything worse by butchering the common route in favor of trying to cram in as much of the routes into a 1cour.

Routes are different 'simulations', because anime, they cram some 20 hours into 6 hours and everything is horrible fucking mess.

Mon itself, showing the simulation process. This is where shit gets weirdest, moon sucks the life out of the Earth to make sure the Earth 'has a future'. At the same time the crazy old lady who runs the eco terrorists finds a way to send undead dinosaurs from within the simulations to attack the key (moon) outside the simulation. The 'solution' is found and the Moon sends 'life' back to Earth to run it's modified version of events, this is Terra and the next 9 episodes.

The whole thing is batshit insane. I can accept a gaia like representation, where the planet is all 'fuck these little parasites on my back, they hurt, I'll kill em all'. But then we've got moon where MC & friends are randomly summoned from within the simulations for the keys amusement.

Why did Key always start in the common route? That's 10~ years after her 'save point'. The final result is that moon key basically forces certain actions upon kotarou, to somewhat woo earth key. The scenarios are pretty disappointing. It's just that character talking to (You) for like a minute. The story quests are a bit more interesting and amusing. Going through Touka's routes right now and the ship tease is real. Moon Kotarou's and the girls' comments on each scenario ending is probably the best part of these though.
