That's not how real relationships work.

Giving love to your waifu works, admittedly and unfortunately, similarly to relationships with 3DPD girls. There is a finite number of hours in the day, and you have to put effort and emotion into the upkeep of that relationship in order to maintain a healthy level of affection.

In the real world, if this affection level drops below a certain value that is dependent on the 3D girl's morality and what she stands to lose if the relationship falls through, then she decides to either cheat or break up.

With waifus, if you don't give them your love and affection every day, then they'll be sad and you'll feel guilty about it. If you try to have more than one waifu, it's entirely likely that you'll either be forced to limit your non-waifu activities for them, or you'll invariably fail one or both of them. While some anons can emotionally cope with having let down their waifu, many use their waifu as a pillar of their mental stability, and it's not uncommon for someone who feels that they've failed their waifu to either snap and become severely depressed or withdrawn. Especially unstable individuals may become violent, self-harm, or intentionally neglect their physical needs and waste away.

The social stigma on /a/ against having multiple waifus may be largely hinged on memes and board culture at this point, but people have become an hero because they tried to have more than one waifu.
