Why does Kyoto Animation feature autistic characters so heavily in its works?
>Kanna
>Autistic.
Fuck you.
>>153097751
Reina's the only one with autism there.
>>153097678
It knows it's target audience.
Only Kanna and Reina are autistic out of that lot.
The other presumably have a smattering of various mental illnesses, but not autism.
>>153097678
It's cute, so who cares?
Copying Azumanga Daioh.
i find any image of or reference to k-on insanely triggering
It's the ultimate form of erokawaii.
Because it isn't supposed to be autistic, it's supposed to be cute and moe.
>>153097678
Dis nigga don't know nuffin' about moe.
>>153098166
I don't. It fills me with lightheartened amusement that people were stupid enough to actually make it one of the more successful anime in recent history.
GodAni knows what we want
>>153098166
I agree, it's pretty triggering to know we'll never have more K-on.
>>153097678
Rikka's not austistic. She's just really into chinese cartoons.
>>153098432
This girl is such a cutie but I fear that if I watch this I'll end up in idol hell.
>>153098809
>He didn't watch K-ON yet
What are you even doing with your life
>>153097678
>Sylphy
Kobory is the autist in Amaburi though.
k-on saved my life
It gives Japanese otaku hope that they have a chance to dick a female that's not quite aware of her surroundings.
>>153097782
>>153097801
Reina isn't autistic, kiss yourselves.
>>153098888
I will sexualize them if you don't behave, mate.
>>153099053
Please don't
>>153097678
Real answer?
The target audience are otaku living in their mother's attic who are (perhaps justifiably) intimidated by realistic females. Giving their characters autism is how they make them seem more harmless. And also it releases them from the burden of having write an interesting character with morals or goals or anything like that.
>>153099053
Renge ganna hafta cut a bish?
>>153099037
Reina is the most autistic.
>>153099275
Your theory would make more sense if the shows featured didn't display incredibly intimidating young women.
>>153099275
Reina isn't like that though. In the first episode of the second season she BTFO'd Shuuichi, showing that she is a strong willed woman.

The key word here is idealization. Me, you and any other anon may watch anime for many reasons, but realism isn't one of them. We watch and like anime because it's idealized and unrealistic and it was always like that. The reason anime got so popular over the world in the first place was because the plots, characters, appearance of the characters and world and etc were all idealized and appealing.
You may try to look down upon japanese otaku, saying that they want escape reality because they are losers, but truth is my friend, that you are doing the same thing. No matter if it's TTGL, Code Geass. FMA, Madoka, K-ON or whatever, all these anime aren't realistic at all in one way or another and you use them as temporary escapism for your own life.
Now, that's not to say we don't look for any ''realism'' in anime, we do. The thing is, it's entirely personal and arbitrary. You want a perfect balance of realism and idealization, but only the kind of realism and idealization that suits your personal taste and criteria.

Agree. I'd cite Non Non Biyori as a show that combines escapist otaku appeal (CGDCT) with a backdrop of melancholy and rural decline.

Kanna has a goal, to make all the angles in the world precisely 90 degrees.
