Woah really? That makes some sense. Don't know how I missed that. If I remember correctly it ends with the nerd kid injured and screaming revenge while one of the Dolls approaches him. In retrospect its an odd ending, but it felt sort of climactic. The FLCL manga's ending is very strange (but brilliant) as well so I thought Ueda was doing a similar thing.
