KnK was probably a big success for them. Look around at these other late night anime studios, how many are capable of a full length movie, how many are capable of being the lead producer? Very few. At the end of the day, Kyoani is going to find a way to be more profitable than other studios that seem like they'd be making more money because their shows sell more BDs, but we already know from the Shaft example that's the wrong way to look at it.
