Incorrect, he planned on JoJo being a trilogy from the start with DIO being the main villain. He planned in Jonathan's death from the start and on DIO coming back but his lack of actually writing shit down and winging it meant he didn't actually have a Way for DIO to come back so he bullshitted the coffin thing. Part 4 was the first post script part he wrote and just made it up as he went along which shows. 5 and 6 are much better in that regard as he planned them better and knew how he wanted them to end as he started them.

The issue is they crammed 174 chapters of a slow paced manga into a 39 episode series without cutting anything so it was rushed as fuck. SC was 152 chapters in 48 episodes but faster paced.

Filler is just a term for 'scenes I don't like'.

The vast majority of character-development and memorable moments happen in 'filler', most of the time. If you cut The Grateful Dead (possibly the most lauded fight in the series) out of part 5 then nothing plot-wise actually changes - the gang just has an unmemorable train-ride and then get attacked by Melone.

But it means we miss out on Mista, Buccellati, Prosciutto and Pesci all being absolutely great. We aren't given a look at how far the characters will go for their respective missions, we don't get a glimpse of the perspective of the villains, nothing.

If you wanted to cut out all the filler in part 5 (or any other part) then you'd end up with a charmless skeleton of a story.

Part 8 feels like it's retreading a lot of the same themes and expanding on them, so he definitely doesn't seem to be over it. Part 8 is selling and reviewing better than 6 or 7 did so hopefully he's able to write the story he wants and for people to appreciate it.

Giorno is attacked by Koichi and then Buccellati, passes the lighter-test, has an unremarkable journey to that island to get the money, is assigned to protect Trish (none of the assassin-fights happen because all of them are technically filler) and takes her to meet Diavolo, Buccellati fights Diavolo, the gang escape to Sardina where Doppio and Risotto fight and Abbacchio is killed, the gang go to Rome to meet Polnareff, and the final battle takes place.

Removing filler from part 5 and most of the other parts absolutely guts it and makes half the characters completely useless. As I said, The Grateful Dead is a filler fight. I'd much rather take The Grateful Dead over the plot-relevant Tarkus fight in PB, thanks.

Bruno and Mista knew before they met Giorno that Bruno, Abbacchio and Narancia would die soon. Bruno jumped so willingly into helping Giorno because fate predetermined their death but not the context, so even though he knew he'd die he had the choice to make it mean something. Diavolo was a cunt so Bruno decided to use his death to put someone better in power since he was going to die anyway so it may as well be for something better than petty gang violence. Basically Rolling Stone only appears to people who are rated to die in an unnatural way very soon, and it follows them until they either touch it or it becomes too late. If they touch it, it lets them die painlessly then and there, but if they don't then their fate is sealed.

Bruno didn't accept the painless suicide, which meant he was going to die painfully BUT he had the choice to make it mean something and not fade into irrelevancy.

No they didn't. Mista was the only one to learn about how Rolling Stone worked, and he wasn't able to put it into words so Fugo and Buccellati never truly grasped exactly what went down. Buccellati never even knew about the stone's powers other than that it'd kill him if it touched him, which was all Mista really told him.

Hell, Mista himself seemed to struggle with what he was seeing a lot, rather than despairing over his apparent failure in the end, he seemed to shrug it off, albeit with some concern. Since Buccellati was saved (and since the stone was shattered) he seemed to think/hope that the danger was over, though he was left feeling uneasy.

Note that Mista also didn't know that Buccellati had died afer they'd beaten Diavolo, he was expecting they'd find him wounded.

If it wasn't for Rohan spending all of his time by the train station taking pictures of everyone who was in Kira's height range, then they never would have found out where Kira was after the face change.

Pretty sure the whole point of the finale was that everyone got to do at least one thing that was crucial in taking down Kira. Rohan found him, Okuyasu removed Stray Cat from the battle ((Which was literally his only real advantage over Josuke and the only thing stopping Josuke from destroying him as soon as the fight started)), Josuke did most of the damage to him and made sure Kira wouldn't be able to run away, Koichi stopped him using BtD, giving Jotaro enough time to completely wreck Kira's bomb activation hand and basically make it so he was totally out of the fight.

Ambulance-chan just comes along to finish the job so none of the part 4 crew need to become murderers.

Ripple was pointless in combat against non-vampires and too broad to be made interesting like Stands so it was dropped but vampirism could have been kept around a little longer. Part 6 was the only Part where it wasn't a concern (Okuyasu's dad in 4, Jotaro worried about Giorno being a vampire at the start of 5) and 7 is a different continuity entirely but it would have been cool to keep around a little longer. That said Araki always just wrote what he wanted and I guess he was tired of vampires after a while.

The backstory of his hair was just meant to show why Josuke had such a justice boner and wasn't really meant to go anywhere except show how kindness from strangers is the glue that holds Morioh together but the placement was weird even in the manga. Also they made it needlessly vague in the anime, in the manga the pomp guy talks normally like everyone else but in the anime all his lines were done without a VA and on those orange backgrounds and they played it up as something really important when all it was was just a one off chapter at the end of a fight where Araki thought some character development would be cool.
