are there some chapters of the yuru yuri manga left untranslated? sites seem to have 4 and 5 missing, or is that normal?

It's the infamous Lost Chapters, in which the actual Yuri happens. They were called back and destroyed when anime adaptation was decided upon so that the manga wouldn't clash with the anime too much.

There's a lot of adapted chapters, was too much work when there was rarely a shortage of new releases. Bakkin's always tried to have a high standard when it comes to releases so spending the time on new scans just wasn't going to happen.

I wouldn't call us dead, more like in a coma on life support with questionable chances of waking up. Without going into specifics, we lost a lot of people last year in a short period of time to the point it was difficult to put out finished releases with any haste. We can still get a hold of each other but I wouldn't hold your breath that we come back.
