I actually thoroughly enjoyed the gameplay but thought that the multiplayer was shit and held it back.

I wanted to enjoy it more. Raids were kind of cool but I couldn't join the fucking tournaments because it's considered an online event and for about a month straight I had never seen one announced or held. Really disappointing. I wanted to play in the tournaments but they were just... never there. Oh well, said I, as I opted for online battles only to never get it because I had to spend 5 minutes of searching for a room and recycling through the "THIS ROOM IS FULL OR HAS DISCONNECTED" screens and returning to the main overworld just to re-enter the clunky matchmaking system. When I actually got into the action, again, it was good, but I was spending approximately 5-10 minutes to get to each matchup minimal (and then I'd have to wait some more).

The Parallel Quest system online is similarly annoying. Searching for online quests that you want to do is clunky. Making a room means you should be prepared to wait 10+ minutes so it's easier to just hit quick match - but when you do that you get stuck with random, usually shitty low-star quests, and searching for specific quests usually gives you nothing in return so it's a pain in the ass.

I liked the gameplay. Xenoverse 2 was pretty fun when it actually got going. But holy fuck did the matchmaking system and the countless menus with endless "ROOM IS FULL, PARTY DISCONNECTED" prompts which forces you to reset back to the overworld only to repeat the same process 5+ times just to connect to a room that fucking disconnects at the last minute was frustrating and I STILL NEVER GOT TO GO IN A TOURNAMENT.

I love DB but I had to drop it. They need to fix matchmaking.

If you want to see why Super is actually fun just look at the Zamasu/Black arc. Sure it has obvious flaws, but it actually does anything new and has any ambitions, and has some great fights. The final fight is probably one of the best in the series. And the story is cheesy but by post-Frieza standards is not bad.
