This shit should have ended after the Frieza saga. Akira Toriyama

The introduction of Trunks with the story being different from what he saw in the future, the androids being stronger and cell existing was so good though. All these elements were thrown out at the same time so the tension was real. Sadly, It got boring after the cell games started. But everything before that was really good, the soundtrack was at its best too.

This is some next-level delusion.

Yeah, they fought on an exploding planet and that was cool, but think about it. Goku was fighting Frieza because he wanted to. He just wanted to give this bully a lesson. He could have escaped to earth safely, and Frieza would NEVER have found earth because he didn't even know it existed. So the series's final boss would have been a villain that wasn't a threat to the heroes at all.

Indeed, except Goku didn't give a shit about the saiyajin and he only found out he was one like a year ago.
There was also Gohan. Gohan and his hidden potential and power were being built up ever since he was introduced, but by the end of the Frieza arc he hadn't accomplished anything yet.

Not to mention Toriyama never ever said he wanted to end the series there. If you find proof I'll eat my hat.
