2016 is now ending. Let's discuss about this year in terms of anime

Did you like it or not? Why?
>>
There were some good shows, some bad shows, and a lot of mediocre shows.

Just like every year
>>
>>151646499

Emphasis on mediocre.
>>
No I didn't like it
>>
Forgettable year. Nothing that aired in 2016 will be widely remembered or highly regarded a decade from now.

I only liked Jojo and Planetarian.

And I'm fucking sick of anime getting more and more mainstream online. Anime memes fucking everywhere.
>>
>>151646734
For TV, no, but in terms of film there are a few that'll stay popular.
>>
I honestly loved Re:Zero and I don't give a shit if /a/ hates it. I was glad that I was here to watch it.
>>
It was so bad, I felt bad.
>>
/a/ got really shitty with /pol/posters shitposting on some threads.

That's really horrible. 2013 is likely the best, and 2014 is easily as good as 2007.

Let me just add that 2016 was a disastrous year for seiyuu fans

>Matsuki passed away
>Taneda suspended due to illness
>Fujiwara suspended due to very serious illness

God help us

>2014 is easily as good as 2007.

This is a bad opinion.

>>151647264
All the old ones are dying off to allow the new generation to come through.
>>
2016 was a good year that had many continuations of shows that started in 2015, which was also a quite strong year.
All in all, anime is still awesome.

On the other hand, discussion level on /a/ did noticeably become worse.

I think it'll always be memorable for the year that gave us a continuation of Code Geass.

I think most of the shows were really good, YOI was a huge surprise.
ReZero ending up being okay.
Rakugo was amazing.

Taneda is not old. She's one of the new hopes and now we don't even know when she's coming back
>>

This is wrong, because Bakuon and Galko-chan will for always be remembered as the hight of Japanese comedy.

Great year for movies. The new Shin-chan and Doreamon were great. The Conan movie was nice too. OP dissapointed. The independent films also really hit their stride this year. But late night franchise movies released in 2016 sucked major dick.

Good year for anime, but nothing memorable or impactful. Year almost over and all I can remember is a few memes from it, i.e Konosuba, that's a solid 7/10.

>Good year for anime

No other year has hammered the fact that too much anime is made with too little money, by too few competent people, in our faces as hard as 2016. The industry will implode any day now. I guess that's a good thing, depends on the perspective.

>2014 over 2007

I'm not sure if 2007 is the best year in a decade but I can easily say that 2007 is much better than 2014.
>>
>>151652640
>will implode
They will just employ more. The money being made is too much to implode. This is just a transition period with many older studios closing and nwer ones opening and the biggest ones getting even bigger.
>>
>>151646419
Worse than 2015, but not total shit.

A lot of memorable shows came out like konosuba, Jojo, luluco, hibike, etc.
>>
>>151652897
>They will just employ more

They have no money to employ anyone and no one wants to work as an animator anyway, because more and more people even in nipland are becoming aware what a shitty dog job it is.
>>
>>151652859
"as good"
>>
>>151647245
Like the opening, History Maker, i get that!.
>>
>>151653330
If only those otaku animators had enough chutzpah to organize themselves into trade unions to demand better treatment.
But then again, they are easily exploited because they are otaku themselves.
And thus, they deserve to be exploited.
>>
Prepare.
Every anime in the future will look like Berserk 2016
>>
>>151646419
Kimi no nawa made the fucking year man I really liked that

>No other year has hammered the fact that too much anime is made with too little money, by too few competent people, in our faces as hard as 2016. The industry will implode any day now. I guess that's a good thing, depends on the perspective.
Ultimately, that is really true. Studios are so irrelevant now, and just try to survive by getting constant jobs from the same anime production companies.
>>
>>151654082
>nobody wants to become an animator
They will always have canon fodder. Unis are pumping out art majors in Japan like crazy.
>they have no money
Revenues are at an all time high
>>
>>151647264
>Taneda suspended due to illness
Some illness that lasts 9 months?
>>
>>151654507
>>they have no money
>Revenues are at an all time high
I think the other anon means that the studios themselves (or at least most of the low-tier ones) don't have enough money to pay their animators better.
The producers of course make tons of money by cutting costs thanks to having a plethora of cheap anime studios to select from and making them call to tender.

After all, most of those studios have to subsist by making inbetweens for the slightly larger middle tier studios while hoping to get finally a contract so that they can make a full anime show.
>>
>>151655001
Studios have no one to blame but themselves honestly. They have the chance to follow in KyoAni's steps but they all choose to stay safe with the garbage money they get from the committees. Honestly only Trigger and Polygon are making it work thanks to wanting to change.
I mean take KyoAni and Shaft as an example. Back in 2009 they were in the same financial state and the same production formula. Kyoto decided its time to change and they're now bigger than ever with 120+ employees between Uji and Osaka while Shaft is in an all time low in revenues while selling BDs by the bucket loads or someone like Actas who actually lost money on a fucking huge hit like GuP. You need to take risks to advance.
>>
>>151646419
Danganronpa 3 led me to this board, and since then I can't seem to get out
>>
>>151655381
Not that such a thing matters to the consumer, nor ought it to. What everyone wants is constantly new anime to watch, like preferably an anime adaptation of something they like, or an interesting new original anime.
The technicians in form of the anime studios have to look for themselves.

Started off much stronger than it ended. With classics like Erased I simply can't say it was a horrible year.
>>
>>151647119
2k10 had oreimo and yosuga
it was fun
also sora no woto and k-on!! were good as well
>>
The success of Yaoi on Ice pretty much ruined the year for me because I'm bitter and envious and hate all fujoshits
>>
>>151646419

It was the year that finally killed anime for me though I saw it coming as early as 2014 as did some other industry insiders that had warned about it. Anime really couldn't afford to have another meh year like 2014 and 2015 so it had a horrible year like 2016 and now 2017 looks like yet another one full of dozens of iterations of the same NEET and Fujoshi targeted crap motivated strictly by corporate greed to milk that layer that I never liked in the first place. It's definitely time to move on, anime scene is a dead dried up soulless husk.

Also as people are pointing out that dreadful fanbase that probably knows deep down their hobby is exploitative shit targeted at degenerates and is forever lashing out and shitposting about it. It all makes it really easy to just leave a hobby you had previously enjoyed for over 15 years when there's just absolutely zero positives you can find in it anymore.
>>
>>151661695
I bet you're still going to spend your time on /a/ crying about anime being dead and the Aniplex-lizardmen conspiracy.
