As much as I'm sad for Mika, I'm glad Okada noticed most gundam pilots don't really have a good reason to fight (imo). Most of them are moralfags, doing it for their ideals, out of pride, for the pussy, you name it. Even when they're forced to they never leave because growing ideals and becoming a moralfag is a side effect of piloting a Gundam. Even though most of them come to a point in the series where they can leave and should have done so (Amuro and Kamille both had engineering degrees, Judau is smart enough to survive in any environment, etc) but still don't, because... there are a bunch of episodes left.
And then you have Mika. Who couldn't get an education, became a child soldier so he could eat, and is only piloting a Gundam because he's good at it and that's the best thing he can do to survive and reach his goal together with his friends. Even though the Gundam is literally eating him away. He was shaped by an environment where fighting was everything, and that's why he'll wither and die as soon as that world with no fighting in it will be born. And even though he's probably aware of that he stills roots for Kudelia to make that dream come true.
I can't help but like the guy a lot.

Damn. Lots of action this episode and it wasn't that notable compared to everything else happening. Watching Mika's body fall apart is getting more and more depressing as we go, especially after watching him squirm helplessly in bed.

Is Mika going to stay connected to Barbatos as much as he can now? The preview with him floating around with the AV system is pretty close to what people expected to happen after he originally became crippled.

Mika will eventually become more Gundam than man. Setsuna would be proud.

It doesn't ruin it so much as it gives you the certainty whatever day it is in 12 weeks will be ruined.

I was arguing about other gundam MCs.
Ultimately every character fights for what they believe in. Even if they didnt think of that at first they found themselves a worthy reason to continue to fight. Just because an option to quit appears are you asking them to give up on what they believe in?
The reasons you provide and the negative opinion they carry from the way you put them arent so far away from the reason Mika has.
He fights on Orga's orders because he believes if he follows them Orga will lead him to that place or whatever. It's not like he's made to fight against his will.

Honestly I never got the sense Amuro and Judau were fighting for what they believed in. Kamille is the only one whose will to fight for his political ideals I aknowledge as genuine. Orga knows he can't keep pushing Mika without breaking him but Mika is essential to reaching his goal in the shortest amount of time. Whether or not he changes his pace is up in the air, since Mika keeps egging him on with his lack of self preservation.

Let's face it, without Mika and Barbatos around, Tekkadan's forces are severely crippled. Akihiro and Shino even with their Gundam Frames weren't enough for the Mobile Armor, much less countless individual Mobile Suits they're going to face later.

Also, it's pretty silly that everyone talked about Mika banging Atra or Kudelia while hooked up to Barbatos way back and it looks like it's going to be a reality. Unless they do all the work while he's laying there limp.

I think some conflict could still come of it. For weeks now, people have been praying for Mikazuki to question Orga. But this episode made it abundantly clear, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that that is simply not how things work. The very thought of questioning Orga is inconceivable to Mika.

And as we saw with his interactions with Naze, ostensibly the person he trusts most for advice, Orga is pretty damn self-deluded too. So even if someone were to question the choices he makes, he'd likely just shrug it off as he has done thus far.

Now, the optimist in me wants to say that this, and the new shtick with Atra wanting Mikazuki to have a child, is building to this status quo finally being thrown for a loop. But given how things have gone thus far, I'm far more inclined to believe that it just... won't go anywhere.

If the Turbines get massacred and we still don't see any kind of change in the cast, then I'll just lose all hope for this show. And I say that as someone who has been die-hard loving it to bits thus far. You know it's pretty bad when members of the cast start talking about it, and then the issue is just played off with a joke and left for another day.

I think next ep might finally resolve the Akihiro/Lafter thing or at least set up the stage for resolution. Tekkadan is delivering Barbatos to Saisei and the prev has Turbine girls in some hot water. They'll probably have Guts help them out or something, then Lafter confesses and we have the kiss. They even had their VA do some promo work for the todays christmas special. Too bad Takumi shot her down by saying Akihiro has zero interest in women.

Well, the reason that Mika keeps losing control over his limbs is due to an increased flow of data between himself and the Barbatos. The current OS is natively designed to block this excessive flow which can damage the user, but Mika has twice brute-forced his way past these limiters to draw on more of the Barbatos' power, regardless of the harm to himself.

It was only recently that Tekkadan discovered the full extent of these issues, as the Gundams are long-lost relics that most people don't know dick about. However, the original pilots and their creators likely would have known. Thus, farther than bluntly disabling the limiters and drawing on massive amounts of previously restricted data at once, they may have been capable of a more controlled flow, acclimating themselves to the increased bandwidth bit by bit, presenting far less risk to themselves.
