I think it's the mindset behind reviving him that makes it so screwy. He'd be forced back to life without getting a say in it, and wouldn't have anything or anyone who he was truly able to relate to. He'd know that his current existence was simply due to the sentimentality of people who liked the idea of him. It'd be really demeaning and confusing. And it wasn't like he died suddenly without warning, either - although the circumstances of his death were horrific, he accepted it and died peacefully, it seems like a smear on his sacrifice and grace.

And since there's a canon afterlife in JoJo he'd be ripped away from the people he actually DID know and love, too.

I think Jolyne/Anasui and Jolyne/Weather Report is the closest to a shipping war in all of JJBA. All other relationships are pretty straightforward. You either like it or don't, but it is what it is without too much focus on romance. I don't think Araki consciously wants to avoid shipping, but he clearly doesn't put much thought into that side of it.
